Chapter 40
Jessica followed Wilson up the dimly lit staircase, her legs heavy with dread. Each step felt like a descent into hell.
When they reached the master bedroom, Wilson pushed the door open and immediately began peeling off his shirt, revealing a muscular, tattooed torso.
“Wait,” Jessica said quickly, her voice shaky. “We should freshen up first. I… I can’t do it like this. Let’s shower.”
Wilson stopped, his eyes narrowing in clear irritation. Anger flashed across his face – he was impatient. For a second, it looked like he might snap and take her right there on the floor. But he exhaled sharply, controlling himself.
“Fine,” he growled. “But you better not try anything funny, Jessica. I swear, if you play games, Marcus dies tonight.”
He walked to the bedroom door, slammed it shut, and turned the key in the lock with a loud click. He slipped the key into his pocket. “Should we shower together?” he asked, his voice dripping with lust as he looked her up and down.
“No,” Jessica replied quickly, avoiding his gaze. “I’ll go after you. I need a moment alone.”
Wilson scoffed but didn’t argue further. He stripped down completely right in front of her, and entered the en-suite bathroom. Soon, the sound of running water filled the air.
The moment Jessica heard the shower curtain slide and the water hitting the tiles steadily, she sprang into action. Her heart hammered wildly. She reached into the inner lining of her clothes where she had cleverly hidden a small burner phone earlier. When Wilson’s men had demanded her main phone and bag, she had slipped the second device into her clothing folds during the brief chaos. She always carried two phones – a habit that was now her only lifeline.
Her fingers trembled as she unlocked it. She thought first of Marcus, but remembered bitterly that he had blocked her number on every line. There was no time to waste. With tears blurring her vision, she
quickly typed a desperate message to Travis:
“Please help me, I am at Wilson’s house. He was about to rape me. Help!”
She hit send, then immediately flashed him with a missed call to draw his attention. Now all she could do was wait and pray.
Meanwhile, Travis arrived home still fuming from the earlier events. Mrs. Morgan met him at the door, worry etched on her face.
“Where is Jessica?” she asked.
Travis angrily recounted everything: how Marcus had caused trouble with a dangerous thug named

Wilson at the dinner, and how Jessica had stubbornly gone to plead with the man alone despite his
protests.
Mrs. Morgan, exclaimed, “What? And you let her go?”
“I tried to stop her, but she was being so stubborn,” Travis replied, running a hand through his hair in frustration.
His phone suddenly vibrated. He checked it – a missed call from an unknown number. He frowned. Then another vibration came through. It was a text message. As he read it, his face drained of color.
“What the heck is this?!” he muttered.
Mrs. Morgan noticed his expression. “What? What is it?”
Travis showed her the message. Mrs. Morgan’s eyes widened in horror. “What the fuck! Something bad is about to happen to my daughter! Call the police now!”
Travis immediately dialed the emergency line and reported the situation, but the officer on the other end didn’t take it seriously. “Do you have the exact address? Have you witnessed anything directly? You’ll need to come down to the station for a proper statement.”
He hung up, cursing under his breath. “Fuck, this will take too long.”
Mrs. Morgan burst into tears. “No, no! Nothing must happen to my daughter. That fucker Marcus caused
all this!”
“Yeah,” Travis agreed bitterly, “all this is because of him.” He scrolled through his contacts. “I should call him.” With anger boiling in his chest, he dialed Marcus’s number.
Meanwhile, Marcus with Nataliw, He had just finished telling her everything about Wilson – the confrontation at dinner, the twisted arm, and especially the distinctive tattoo he had noticed on Wilson.
“Then he must be connected to who shot Father,” Natalie said, her eyes narrowing with suspicion.
Marcus nodded grimly. “Exactly. I’m going to secretly learn about him – who he meets, what he does. Once I have enough information, I’ll capture him once and for all.”
Natalie nodded in agreement. Marcus then leaned closer, lowering his voice. “There’s something else. Those beads you gave me… they have some strange power. When I fought Wilson’s men, energy from the beads entered my body. It made me stronger, faster. I beat them easily, like it was nothing.”
Natalie frowned deeply. “Does that mean there is really something magical in this world, even in this century?”
Before Marcus could respond, his phone rang. He frowned at the unknown number flashing on the screen. “Who is this?” he muttered to himself, then answered.
“Look what you have caused, you dirty bastard!” Travis’s angry voice exploded through the speaker.
Marcus recognized the voice immediately. If he had known it was Travis, he might not have picked up.

What happened?” he asked sharply.
“Jessica is in danger because of you!” Travis snarled. “She went to meet Wilson to plead for you and save you from getting killed. Now she is about to be raped. What will you do?”
Marcus’s heart dropped. “She went there?”
“Yes, fucker! I don’t know how she could be this stupid for someone like you! You better do something!”
