Chapter 51
Julia shouted at her mother. “Mom, please stop all this already. Jordan was the one who did this to me. He tried to rape me, and he has already been arrested, so there’s nothing you can do anymore.”
Ms. Lena was furious and still blamed Julia. “If only you had agreed to marry him, none of this would have happened. Anyway, I don’t want to see you with this rag man. In fact, he should leave here this
instant!”
Julia screamed back, “Mother, I’m fed up! Stop treating me like an asset or some kind of tool you want to use to escape poverty. Stop introducing me to rich men. You don’t even care if they are old enough to be my father or as wicked as Lucifer. You would push me into danger just because of money. I’m fed up, Mom!” She cried harder. “And Marcus isn’t leaving. He is the only comfort I have.”
Ms. Lena scoffed. “You’re young, that’s why you’re thinking like this. You will thank me later in the future when I set you up with a good rich man. But for now, I want this man to get out!”
Then Marcus sighed and said, “Mother… I can’t do that.”
“Shut up already! Why are you calling me Mother? No one would want to be associated with you – someone unknown like you.”
Marcus scoffed and replied, “Actually, I am Julia’s boyfriend. No… in fact, we are engaged because we’ve already gotten engaged. So please, Mother, stop introducing her to unworthy men. She isn’t a tool!”.
–
Ms. Lena nearly fainted. She staggered back, eyes wide with shock. “What the heck are you saying? Who told you you are her fiancé? You? You?!” She looked Marcus up and down with pure disgust. “Look at yourself. No woman of substance will ever want you!”
Julia quickly played along. “Well, Mother, I want him. And as you heard, he is my fiancé. Deal with it. I will never leave him for anyone else.”
This made Lena even madder. “What are you saying? Do you know how angry your grandfather would be if he heard about this? Are you crazy?! He can’t even name his father!”
“I don’t care,” Julia shot back. “He is my man and will forever be. Please, Mom, get out.”
Lena’s face twisted with rage. “You are out of your mind!”
“Yes, Mom, get out! You are disturbing my peace. I will call security on you if I have to.”
Lena smiled bitterly. “You think your grandfather will accept him? Keep dreaming. Like it or not, you won’t marry him.” With that, she angrily stormed out of the room, slamming the door behind her.
After she left, Julia broke down and cried bitterly. Marcus pulled her into his arms and comforted her, rubbing her back gently. When her sobs finally eased, Julia whispered, “Thanks for helping me out there.”
Marcus looked at her seriously. “What about we put that into action? You should introduce me as your

fiancé to your family. That way, they might stop disturbing you.”
Julia gulped. “Ugh… uh…”
Marcus chimed in quickly, “It will be a fake relationship, just some facade to save you from the constant pressure. There won’t be a real thing between us.”
Julia smiled through her tears. “I would be happy if you can help me with it. Thanks so much.”
Marcus shrugged. “It’s nothing special.”
What followed was an awkward silence. Julia was thinking about how Marcus would be her fake fiancé in the following days.
After some hours, Julia fell asleep from exhaustion. Marcus sat by her bedside, gazing at her peaceful face for a long moment. He gently tucked her in, then leaned down and whispered, “I’ll be back soon.” He placed a soft kiss on her forehead before quietly walking out.
Upon returning home, Natalie was already waiting with urgent news. “I did a thorough search on Lord Ray. He’s the leader of the Hyena Gang and very popular among corrupt politicians. What’s worse is that he’s deeply involved in child trafficking. Tonight, with his men, he’s planning to traffic another group of young girls. They’re at the shore right now.”
Natalie looked at him. “Should we involve the police, or deal with him ourselves?”
Marcus’s expression hardened. “Prepare now. We are going to the shore. Inform the men. We will involve the police after dealing with him.”
At the dark, deserted shore. Lord Ray, a bulky man in his late fifties with a thick beard, gold chains around his neck, and a cruel scar running down his left cheek, stood shouting commands. His expensive
black suit looked out of place.
“Unpack them quickly!” he barked. “Separate the youngest ones! Put them in the smaller container. They
make more money in the private markets. Move it!”
Beside him stood Mr. Moretti, the Town Head of Police -(Chief constable) a slim, sharp-featured man in uniform who often collaborated with Ray for seamless trafficking operations and protection.
Moretti’s eyes lingered on one terrified girl with fair skin. “Can I have this one for myself?” he asked with a sleazy smile.
Lord Ray laughed. “Sure, you can have the slut!” He grabbed the crying girl by her hair and dragged her roughly toward Moretti. She screamed and begged, “Please, let me go! I want to go home!”
Lord Ray slapped her hard across the face. “Shut up! He is your master now, and you shall listen to him. make sure you satisfy him, or else, he can kill you and nothing will happen!”
