The Divorce Prescription (Celina and Adam) novel Chapter 988

After that, Hailey left. She didn't even need to look back to know how furious Justin had to be by now.

That was just perfect.

He would probably rush straight to Joanne. Then Joanne would contact Ewan, and those two would start to panic.

That was exactly what she wanted—to back them into a corner and force their hand.

As soon as Hailey left, Justin was seething. He truly couldn't understand why, after all these years, Jonah was still so obsessed with Hailey.

He had even just proposed to her!

At this rate, they could be married within weeks.

Justin immediately pulled out his phone and dialed Joanne. "Hello? Joanne?"

Joanne wasn't alone. She was actually with Ewan.

Due to the situation with Kaia, Joanne had kept a low profile for several days. However, she and Ewan were both growing anxious because Hailey was already pregnant, and her belly was only getting bigger.

Her phone rang.

Joanne glanced at the screen and said, "Mr. Ewan, it's Justin calling."

Ewan, holding a wine glass, said, "Answer it."

Joanne took the call. "Hey, Justin."

"Joanne, this is bad. Something's happened."

"What is it, Justin? Just tell me, slowly!"

"Joanne, Jonah took Hailey shopping for diamonds today. He proposed to her!" he exclaimed.

What?

Joanne shot to her feet, clutching her phone tightly. Her voice trembled with disbelief as she asked, "What did you just say? Repeat it!"

Justin replied, "Joanne, you heard me right. Jonah just proposed to Ms. Hailey!"

"Mr. Ewan, you heard that, didn't you? Jonah already proposed to Hailey! After everything we've done, we still couldn't stop the two of them from getting to this point. If they actually get married, all our efforts will be for nothing!

"You've got to come up with something. I can't let this happen!"

Shards of glass were already digging into Ewan's palm, and blood trailed down his wrist.

In a sharp voice, he snapped, "You can't accept this? You think I can? Hailey should've been mine, so why does she insist on being with that pathetic, broke man?"

"Then what do we do now, Mr. Ewan?"

Ewan thought for a moment, then said, "At this point, we've got no choice but to take a dark path. If I can't have her, I'd rather destroy her! If she's not mine, then no one else gets to have her either!"

Joanne's anger instantly faded. Deep down, she had always known that Ewan was in love with Hailey.

Back when they were younger, Ewan had cheated on her. After Hailey left, she became the one woman he could never get over—the perfect girl he lost and could never replace.

He never wanted to hurt her back then, but now, he had made up his mind and chose to hurt her.

That was perfect!
