The Divorce Prescription (Celina and Adam) novel Chapter 999

Ewan couldn't believe Hailey actually dared to lie and provoke him.

He suddenly tightened his grip on Hailey's throat, angrily threatening, "Hailey, are you really not afraid to die?"

Hailey's face flushed even deeper. "I am afraid of dying because I am pregnant and reluctant to leave Jonah's side! However, I'd rather die than be with someone like you. You make my skin crawl!"

Ewan responded, "You—"

Just then, the warehouse doors burst open.

"Mr. Ewan!"

It was Joanne.

As Ewan let go of Hailey's neck, fresh air rushed into her lungs. She coughed twice from the sudden relief.

Ewan turned to Joanne and asked, "Joanne, what are you doing here? I thought you were still with Jonah and Justin."

Joanne replied, "Mr. Ewan, Justin is starting to suspect me!"

Ewan's heart skipped a beat. "What are you talking about? Justin trusts you, and he's never doubted you, no?"

Joanne's expression turned somber.

"I don't know why Justin would suspect me all of a sudden. Anyway, something's wrong with him! Mr. Ewan, I have a bad feeling about this. We need to deal with this woman. Keeping her alive is just asking for trouble!"

Hailey let out a cold laugh. "Joanne, Jonah and Justin saw you as a friend. They never once doubted you, and yet behind their backs, you've been conspiring with Ewan. Tell me—how could you do that to them?"

"That's enough, Hailey! Who are you to accuse me of anything? This is all because of you! Jonah and I were supposed to be together. He was mine! I was meant to be his wife, but you showed up and ruined everything! You snatched him away from me! I hate you! I want you gone forever!" Joanne seethed.

However, Hailey suddenly laughed.

Joanne paused. "What are you laughing at?"

Hailey responded, "I'm laughing at how selfish, greedy, and hypocritical you are. Jonah and I met first, and we fell in love at that moment. Don't tell me you didn't know that. You knew all along about Ewan's schemes, yet you still clung to something that was never yours to begin with. Jonah was never yours!"

Joanne shot a glance at Ewan, who raised the knife in his hand.

Then, he looked at Hailey's stomach and said, "I'll start by cutting this fucking child out of you!"

Joanne agreed with him. "Yeah! This thing never should've been born!"

Hailey shook her head and shouted, "Ewan, please don't hurt my child! Don't!"

"Just die!" Ewan yelled. He raised the knife and aimed it straight toward Hailey's belly.

Joanne laughed with twisted delight. She was finally witnessing the moment she had longed for—Hailey and the child in her belly were about to disappear right before her eyes!

Just as Ewan thrust the knife toward Hailey, a rock came flying out of nowhere, slamming right into his hand.

Ewan cried out in pain, and the knife clattered to the ground.
