**Before Rain Touches Earth Memories Return With Gentle Warmth by Eli Dane Crest**
**Chapter 16**
**Gemma**
A tremor courses through me, a mix of exhilaration and fear. What has possessed me to stand here, hurling these bold accusations at the ruthless and violent leader of the infamous Blackwell family?
Cassian, with his hands that have ended lives, now rests them on my body.
He could dismantle me with just a flick of his wrist.
In the past, such a thought would have paralyzed me with terror. But now, the sheer danger of the moment ignites something within me, a thrill that pulses through my veins.
I stand my ground, even as my body quakes.
“You have three days,” I declare, my voice surprisingly firm despite the storm brewing in my chest. “If you fail to sign those papers, I will take this public and file with the court.”
I lean closer, my body brushing against his as I rise onto my tiptoes. “Can you imagine the scandal, Cassian Blackwell? Not just a gold-digging wife, but one you kept hidden from the world, and then couldn’t even manage to keep under wraps.”
With that, I pivot sharply and stride toward the exit, aware of his piercing gaze still fixed on me, and then Liam’s, as I push through the doors.
I halt and whirl around, snapping at the stunned second-in-command, “Enjoying the show? If you’re so interested in Cassian’s private life, perhaps you’d like to know more? Should I share how he is in bed?”
Liam’s jaw drops in disbelief, and a rush of exhilaration surges through me. I’ve never been this audacious before, especially not in front of Cassian.
It feels like I’m teetering on the edge of a precipice, ready to plunge into the unknown.
I cast a quick glance back at Cassian, whose stormy expression reveals a tempest of emotions. I offer him the most exaggerated smile I can muster before pushing through the doors and into the night.
I have places to be.

I watch Gemma walk away, my mind racing as I try to process her audacity.
Moments later, Liam jogs up to me, his expression a mixture of confusion and surprise. “That’s your wife? I thought you described her as a delicate little rabbit!”
“She is,” I respond, my voice low and edged with irritation, causing Liam to instinctively raise his hands in surrender.
“Hey, man, I don’t know her. I’m just reacting to what I saw.”
“What you witnessed is an anomaly. I don’t know what’s come over her lately, but I’m confident she’ll return to her usual self once she gets this divorce nonsense out of her system.”
