The Don Tore Up Our Divorce (Gemma and Cassian) novel Chapter 210

**Before Rain Touches Earth Memories Return With Gentle Warmth by Eli Dane Crest**
**Chapter 210**

**Cassian’s POV**

As I sink into the unforgiving embrace of the hospital chair, my arms fold tightly across my chest, a fortress against the uncertainty swirling around me. My eyes remain locked on Reyna, whose expression is a mix of confusion and defiance. The atmosphere is thick with tension, and I can feel my patience wearing thin as the silence stretches between us like an unwelcome chasm.

“Reyna,” I finally break the stillness, my voice steady but laced with an edge. “I asked you a question. Why did you intercept Gemma’s calls?”

Her head jerks up, her eyes shimmering with a glassy sheen, betraying the turmoil within.

“Cassian, I can’t comprehend what you’re implying. I didn’t hang up on Gemma,” she replies, her voice wavering slightly.

“Don’t lie to me, Reyna,” I retort, the words slipping out with a bite. “I only shared a meal with you that night, and my phone was untouched by anyone else until the next morning. How is it that numerous calls from her went unanswered? Do you truly believe that makes any sense?”

For a fleeting moment, her confidence falters, her lips pressing into a thin line as her fingers nervously toy with the edge of the blanket.

At last, she seems to gather herself, shaking her head vigorously.

“Cassian, I… I just remembered! I did hang up on a few calls while you were in the bathroom. But I swear, I had no idea they were from her! You told me you didn’t want work distractions during meals, so I just assumed it was a business call. I didn’t even check the screen!”

I scrutinize her closely, the flicker of truth buried beneath layers of half-hearted excuses.

“And yet, the call records have vanished,” I state coldly, my voice devoid of warmth. “Calls don’t simply disappear unless someone deliberately erases them.”

Her breath catches in her throat, and I can see the panic rising in her eyes.

“Cass, I’m truly sorry. Please, don’t be angry with me. I just… I thought Gemma was being rude, always intruding and complicating things for you. I was merely trying to stand up for you, as your friend—”

My jaw clenches, the muscles tightening in frustration. “Standing up for me? By meddling with my phone? By putting a wedge between me and my wife?”

She flinches at my words, her eyes darting away as if trying to escape the weight of my accusation. Memories claw at the edges of my consciousness—her injured leg, the night she shielded me from danger all those years ago—but I force them back.

I am not her pet, and gratitude does not bind me to her whims.

“Listen closely, because I will only say this once. I will not tolerate this behavior again. If you cross that line one more time, there will be no second chances.”

“Cassian, what… I… You’ve never spoken to me like this before,” she stammers, disbelief etched across her features.

Rising from the chair, I adjust my jacket, feeling the weight of the moment settle heavily upon my shoulders.

“Perhaps that was my oversight,” I reply, my tone clipped.

I take a deep breath, my gaze softening as I look down at her. “You will remain here on Nassau Island to recuperate. Your medical expenses are fully covered, so there’s no need for concern. Once you are well enough, arrangements will be made for your return.”

Her eyes widen in disbelief. “What do you mean… stay here? Alone?”

“I’ve already booked my return ticket and will be leaving for home immediately.”

A gasp escapes her lips, panic threading through her voice. “Cassian, no! You can’t! What about the police station? I have to go tomorrow to give my statement. I can’t do it alone. I need you there with me!”

“You’ll manage,” I assert, my tone leaving no room for argument.

As she reaches out, her trembling hand seeking the comfort of my sleeve, I instinctively step back, my gaze turning icy.

“And after today, don’t expect me to be your crutch.”
