The Don Tore Up Our Divorce (Gemma and Cassian) novel Chapter 225

**Before Rain Touches Earth Memories Return With Gentle Warmth by Eli Dane Crest 225**

**Chapter 225**

**Cassian’s POV**

As Reyna gazes at me, her eyes sparkle with a mix of hope and urgency, clearly anticipating my agreement.

“Cassian, you’ve heard about the unjust termination that Zoey faced at the hands of Dream International, right? It’s absolutely appalling and unprofessional behavior from the new general manager…”

I shake my head slowly, my expression hardening. “No, I haven’t heard anything about it.”

My eyes narrow, a flicker of annoyance igniting within me. “And why exactly does this concern you?”

Her fingers intertwine nervously, a subtle gesture that betrays her anxiety.

“Zoey is… she’s a complex individual. She’s been my friend for years, and while she’s made her share of mistakes, she’s already expressed a desire to apologize. She’s even willing to accept Dream’s decision to terminate her contract… all she asks is not to be blacklisted. Can you find it in your heart to say a few words in her favor? It would mean the world to her.”

In this industry, being blacklisted is akin to a death sentence. It means no endorsements, no shows, and no chance to reclaim lost status. For a model, fading into obscurity is a fate worse than failure itself.

“Why did they terminate her in the first place?” I ask, my tone sharp.

Reyna hesitates, her head tilting slightly as if trying to gauge my reaction.

“Is that really important? She’s young and impulsive. Surely, mistakes can be overlooked when the person in question is one of your star employees.”

I draw in a deep breath, trying to steady my rising frustration.

“Contracts don’t get terminated for no reason in this business. If she was let go, it indicates she must have been costing the company more than she was worth.”

Her smile falters, the edges of her lips trembling, but she maintains her sweet demeanor. “She understands her wrongs now. She’s ready to change and take responsibility. Cassian, you have the power to help her. Just a word from you, and Dream won’t force her onto the blacklist.”

Does she genuinely believe this is a charity case, that I’ll simply bend to her will? All I hear is her trying to leverage my influence.

“So, you want me to dive into a situation I know nothing about, to stake my reputation on someone else’s failures, and somehow expect no repercussions?”

She presses on, undeterred by my skepticism. “Zoey’s career is just beginning. If she gets blacklisted now, she’ll lose everything. You know modeling careers are fleeting. Why waste her prime over one mistake?”

“If the mistake is severe enough, sometimes one is all it takes.”

“Cass, please…!”

For a fleeting moment, silence envelops us like a heavy blanket. I can see the glimmer of tears threatening to spill from her eyes, and I start to feel uncomfortable standing here, locked in this tense exchange.

When I left her in Nassau, I had expected our paths would cross infrequently and only in formal settings. I certainly never anticipated she would bump into me here, in this charged atmosphere.

I contemplate for a moment. The girl she’s advocating for, Zoey Hunter… she hails from a family with whom we frequently engage in business dealings. If nothing else, this could provide me with a chance to assess whether we should continue our collaboration with them.

“I’ll look into it, but I can’t make any promises.”

A wave of relief washes over her features, brightening her expression.

“That’s all I’m asking! Thank you, Cassian.”

She makes a move as if to touch my arm, but I subtly step aside, denying her the gesture. The flicker of embarrassment that crosses her face is immediate, though she quickly masks it with another smile.

**Gemma’s POV**

The banquet hall sparkles with golden light, the chandeliers casting a warm glow over the polished glasses and gleaming plates.

Yet, beneath the surface brilliance, there’s an undercurrent of tension swirling through the room. I had anticipated that tonight would be anything but peaceful, but I certainly hadn’t expected to run into Cassian’s closest friends.

And speaking of the devil… as I turn my head, my gaze lands squarely on Cassian.
