The Don Tore Up Our Divorce (Gemma and Cassian) novel Chapter 234

**Before Rain Touches Earth Memories Return With Gentle Warmth by Eli Dane Crest**

**Chapter 234**

**Gemma’s POV**

My heart races, the thudding echoing in my ears, and at that moment, clarity washes over me. It dawns on me with a chilling realization: he wasn’t merely present at the hotel during the meeting with the ‘client.’

No, it goes far deeper than that. He orchestrated this entire encounter. From the very beginning, he laid the groundwork, baiting the trap, and I unwittingly allowed Zina to waltz right into it.

A nervous laugh escapes my lips as I struggle to mask the turmoil brewing inside me. “Mr. Blackwell, I must admit, I had no idea you were such a strategist in the realm of business warfare. Why stop here? With your knack for arranging covert operations, you’d fit right into an intelligence agency.”

His gaze darkens, a storm brewing behind his eyes. It’s evident he interprets my words as a sign of weakness—that I’ve crumbled, my defenses shattered now that my true identity has been unveiled.

“Tell me,” he presses, his voice low and deliberate, “when you came to my company for the USB drive, was that at Moonlight’s behest? Such a loyal friend you are, Gemma, willing to betray your husband for her.”

The sting of his accusation cuts deep, yet confusion swirls within me. What does he mean by that? What has Zina done that would compel her to refuse an order from Blackwell Industries?

He’s referring to Zina, yet again… Why does he keep bringing her up?

And then it hits me like a bolt of lightning—he hasn’t grasped the whole truth yet.

A wave of relief washes over me, allowing me to breathe a little easier, knowing he remains oblivious to the fact that I am Moonlight.

I swallow hard, steadying my voice as I ask, “What do you intend to do about Zina?”

His brows knit together, a frown forming on his face. “Once a hacker’s identity is exposed in this industry, their future is essentially obliterated. However, since she’s your friend, I suppose I won’t have to take it that far.”

His words confirm my suspicions; he genuinely doesn’t know the extent of her danger. A tumult of relief and dread crashes within me.

Zina remains at risk, but Cassian’s ignorance offers me a sliver of opportunity.

“What do you want from me, then?” I inquire, my curiosity piqued.

His unwavering gaze locks onto mine, unyielding.

“For you to relocate from the guest bedroom back to the master suite.”

After everything we’ve been through—the suspicion, the traps, the accusations—this is his demand? To pull me back into his orbit, into his space… and for what? To exert control over me once more?

For the first time in what feels like an eternity, I’m torn between laughter and rage.

“Give me another option,” I finally retort, my tone firm. “Because my answer is a resounding no. I’ve grown accustomed to the guest bedroom.”

Cassian’s jaw tightens, the muscle in his cheek twitching with barely restrained frustration. “Then you must resign from Dream International.”

I stare at him, disbelief washing over me. “No! This is my career!”

Fury ignites in my chest, but alongside it, a bitter ache settles in. I’ve fought tooth and nail to escape the suffocating shadow of the Blackwell family, carving out my own space, free from his name, his influence, and his relentless control. And now he wants me to relinquish that hard-won freedom? To revert to being an extension of him?

Absolutely not.

His mouth forms a grim line, displeasure radiating from him like heat from a fire. Two demands, both of which I have firmly rejected.

Considering the man I’m dealing with—Cassian Blackwell—this humiliation is something he doesn’t forgive lightly.

I can’t shake the thought that my defiance could place Zina in jeopardy.

If I push him too far, and God forbid he loses his temper, what will become of her then? She would be the first to pay the price.
