The Don Tore Up Our Divorce (Gemma and Cassian) novel Chapter 375

Chapter 375

Zina’s POV

The room is thick with suspicion, everyone silently accusing each other with their eyes. Jeremy just finished a tense call with Amanda, his voice leaving no her usual theatrics.

I was with Zina the entire time,Jeremy states, his tone flat and definitive. I had no opportunity to delete anything.

All eyes swing to me. I nod quickly, my loyalty absolute. It’s true. He never left my side. Gemma saw him upstairs, too.

The logic is sound. Anyone who was in the upstairs room when Gemma was recovering: Jeremy, me, Cassian, Meredith, Harry, has an alibi. That leaves only the people who stayed by the pool: Mikhail, Liam, and Antonios and Nancy Moore.

But Gemma’s brow is furrowed, her mind working visibly. She shakes her head slowly. It doesn’t fit,she says, her 1/8

sofa, Cassian hovering nearby. What motive would any of them have? And they were all together. If one of them slipped away, the others would have noticed.

She looks around, her gaze landing on me. I don’t think the person who did this is in this room.

Then who?someone asks. A member of the household

staff?

Gemma’s silence is thoughtful. Then she looks directly at me, a clear, unspoken request in her eyes. Maybe we should see if the deleted footage can be recovered.

Her meaning is plain. She wants me to try.

Before I can even process it, Cassian speaks up, his gaze sharp on me. Zina. You’re Moonlight, aren’t you? Recovering a corrupted surveillance file should be trivial for someone of your caliber.

I freeze. The blood seems to rush from my head. Oh, no. I wish, desperately, that I were.

Meredith’s head tilts, her expression shifting from Concern to sharp surprise. She looks from Cassia to 09:38

Mikhail, leaning against the wall, just crosses his arms, a knowing, almost amused smile touching his lips. The secret is a game to him, and Cassian just fumbled the ball spectacularly.

You’re Moonlight?Nancy breathes, her eyes wide with awe. The legendary hacker? I’ve followed your work for years! I can’t believe you’re here!

I feel Jeremy’s gaze land on me, heavy and questioning. It’s a look that says, You never told me this. What else haven’t you told me?

The pressure of their collective stare, feels like a physical weight. A cold sweat prickles down my spine.

UmI let out a strained, utterly unconvincing laugh. Well, this isinteresting.

Do I admit it? Do I throw Gemma under the bus? My mind scrambles for an exit.

You know what!I blurt out, seizing the only escape hatch. The surveillance! Right! Let me justgo and tak

a look at that system!

Without waiting a second longer, I turn and practically sprint from the room.

Gemma’s POV

I sit perfectly still on the sofa, my gaze fixed on a point on the ornate rug. I offer no explanation, no correction. Let them believe what they want. The secret of Moonlight has been a shield and a weapon; right now, letting it be misdirected feels like a strategic advantage, a way to keep the real power hidden.

Meredith’s eyes meet mine across the room. She understands. She gives an almost imperceptible nod, a silent pact to let the charade stand.

The others, however, are buzzing with the revelation. Liam is practically vibrating. No way! Zina is Moonlight? Does that mean she was the one blowing off Blackwell Industries’s security contracts on purpose?

His mind is connecting dots that don’t exist.

Cássian shoots him a silencing glare so potent it coul@9:38

Jeremy looks utterly bewildered, running a hand through his hair. Your father,Liam prods him, when he was pushing the Patel family marriagedid he have any idea he was trying to stop you from marrying a h legend?

Jeremy just shakes his head, his expression a mix of shock and betrayal. Clearly, he knew nothing, and Peter doesn’t either.

Their theories and dramatics are just noise. My focus is on the door to the monitoring room. Five minutes pass. Then ten. No Zina. A thread of impatience pulls taut inside me. I stand. I’ll go check on her.

I need to move, to do something. Cassian immediately moves to follow, but I stop him with a raised hand. Alone.

He hesitates, but the monitoring room is just down the hall on this floor, no stairs. He gives a curt, reluctant nod and stays behind.

Inside the dim room, Zina is hunched over the keyboard 8

a frown of deep concentration etching her face. Is it difficult?I ask, my voice soft so as not to startle her.

She doesn’t look up. Whoever did it knew what they were doing. It’s a thorough wipe. I’m running a data recovery protocol. Justgive me a minute. I’ll ~ back.

Her tone is determined, but I hear the underlying strain. She’s good, but she’s always operated in my shadow. With me watching over her shoulder, it feels like a highstakes exam.

Gemma, she blurts out suddenly, her eyes still glued to the scrolling code, if I can’t recover thiswill you fire me?

A faint, unexpected smile touches my lips. No, I won’t fire you.

She lets out a shaky breath of relief.

I’ll reassign you to the logistics department,I finish, my tone mild.

He head whips around, her eyes wide with horror. 09:38
