The Don Tore Up Our Divorce (Gemma and Cassian) novel Chapter 440

Chapter 440
Gemma's POV

“Yes, we believe you.”

Before seeing the cast, my trust in him was hanging by a thread, maybe thirty percent at most?

The damning footage was too clear. But the injury changes the equation. It’s an undeniable alibi his doppelganger doesn’t share. My trust clicks up to eighty percent.

“But if it’s not you, then who is it?” Zina is pacing a small circle on the pavement. “A twin brother?”

William frowns, his good hand coming up to rub his temple. The last time, he could write it off as a misunderstanding. But this?

“Two of me…” he murmurs to himself. “Even if I had a split personality, I couldn’t be in two places at once.”

“William,” Zina presses. “Is it possible your family secretly had another child? Maybe you should ask them.”

A secret sibling? It sounds like the plot of a bad soap opera.

But faced with this impossibility, even absurdity becomes a viable path.

William nods slowly, his expression grim.

“I’ll ask.”

He says it, but I can see the disbelief in his eyes. He’s an only, doted on by his parents. Then how…?

He doesn’t believe it, but he has to ask. And I have to hear the answer.

I had planned a quiet evening, packing, mentally preparing for the flight. But it looks like the evening has other plans for me.

Clark Manor is a modest but well-kept manor, comfortable for a middle-class family. On the way over, we find out that William’s father has business, while his mother, Ava, is a government clerk.

They have given William a good life, even if they hated his career choice. Now, as our two cars pull up, their surprise at seeing their son is increased by the bewilderment on seeing all of us, standing behind him.

Aiden’s eyes land on Cassian, and recognition flashes. In the business world, the Blackwell name is a crown.

He practically hustles over, hand extended. “Mr. Blackwell! This is an unexpected honor!”

Cassian shakes his hand with polite detachment and we settle in the neat, slightly formal living room. Ava flutters, offering drinks, her eyes darting between her son’s stormy face and the imposing, silent presence of Cassian.

William has had enough of the formalities as he stands in the center of the room. “Mom, Dad. I’m here today because I have something to ask you.”

His grave tone freezes them. The last time he stood up to them for a confrontation, he told them he was abandoning his future in the corporate world to pursue his passion in the kitchen.

This time, he's back after years and they brace for another bombshell to drop.

“Mom, Dad,” William repeats. “Did you have another son when you were younger?”

The reaction is instantaneous. Ava’s hand flies to her chest, while Aiden’s affable expression shatters. They don’t just look shocked, they look like they have been backed into a corner.
