The Don Tore Up Our Divorce (Gemma and Cassian) novel Chapter 68

**Before Rain Touches Earth Memories Return With Gentle Warmth by Eli Dane Crest**
**Chapter 68**

**Gemma**

As I step out of the dimly lit warehouse, a rush of adrenaline propels me down the street. My heart races, and I can still feel the remnants of the tension that clung to me inside those walls. Once I’ve put a safe distance between myself and that place, I pull out my phone with trembling fingers. The screen lights up, illuminating the photo I took earlier—the one that holds the key to my mother’s hope: the information about the miracle drug.

My thoughts drift to my mother, who has been battling a severe medical condition that has taken a toll on her mental health. The weight of her struggles presses heavily on my chest. She was supposed to receive that medication, the one that could offer her a semblance of relief. But fate, it seems, has dealt a cruel hand. Somehow, Reyna’s mother has found her name on the list instead, seeking help for insomnia. Insomnia? There are countless medications available for that! She doesn’t need it—certainly not in the way my mother does.

Frustration bubbles within me, and I can’t help but feel utterly exasperated with Angela and Reyna Holland. They have a knack for complicating my life at every turn.

I scan through the details on my phone until I find the supplier’s number. It’s a personal line, and I notice there’s an authorization code that belongs to Cassian. This is my chance.

With a deep breath, I dial the number. “Hello, I’m Mr. Cassian Blackwell’s secretary,” I say, trying to sound as composed as possible. “I need to change the delivery for this medication.”

The voice on the other end is professional, and I provide the authorization code without hesitation. “Yes, we’ll redirect the medication to the new patient immediately,” they assure me.

A grin spreads across my face as I end the call. The thrill of having taken a step closer to helping my mother fills me with warmth. I dig into my bag and pull out my laptop, seeking refuge in a nearby café. It’s time to focus on the job I’m being paid for.

Once settled, I retrieve the thumb drive containing Cassian’s data and connect it to my computer. My fingers dance over the keyboard, typing with a rhythm that feels almost euphoric. Today has unfolded even better than I had anticipated.

Sitting at my desk, I review the plans the engineers have drafted based on Gemma’s insightful suggestion. It’s impressive work, and I can’t help but feel a swell of pride.

Though I hadn’t initially planned to publicly announce Gemma as my wife, now that it’s out in the open, I find a strange satisfaction in it. It feels right.

Returning to my office, I sink into my chair, the lingering scent of Gemma enveloping me. It’s comforting, and I take a moment to savor the fact that she was here, sharing this space with me.

But then, I catch myself smiling, and it fades quickly into a frown. I shouldn’t be feeling this way—like a lovesick teenager lost in daydreams. I shove the thought of her aside, forcing myself to focus on work. Yet, barely twenty minutes pass before Liam storms into my office, his expression grave.

“Cassian, we have a problem,” he states, urgency lacing his tone.

“What is it?” I snap, instantly on alert.

“Our system has experienced a data leak. The hacker you hired was holding Moonlight at bay, but suddenly, she broke through as if she were one of our own computers.”

“What?!” I rise from my chair, disbelief coursing through me.

“Yeah,” he replies. “It happened about twenty to thirty minutes ago.”

Slowly, my gaze drifts back to the computer on my desk. A vivid image of Gemma sitting here flickers in my mind. It’s as if she had infiltrated our system at the precise moment Moonlight broke through.

No. There’s absolutely no way Gemma is Moonlight.

But then a troubling thought surfaces—something Moonlight had said during our one brief chat. I pull out my phone, scrolling through our messages until I find it, reading it over again.
