The Ex-Wife's Burning Elegance novel Chapter 1616

A mischievous smile appeared on Abby's face.

"One of them was a client from Germany who hates people being late. So, we devised a plan to make Coleman late, causing him to lose the deal, which we then snatched up."

Stella had been trained by Joshua. Though she also couldn't stand Coleman, she wouldn't act just to annoy him or get even. As Stella put it: "Acting purely for revenge is childish. If you're going to make a move, you'd be losing out if you don't get something from it. If you tip him off, he'll be on his guard next time, which puts us at a disadvantage. Getting even and gaining an advantage—that's the only way it's worth scheming against him."

Stella was not only patient but also incredibly emotionally stable. They waited and waited, and finally, their chance came.

At Abby's words, Joshua said, "You caused a car accident?"

Abby immediately got defensive. "Coleman must have told you that, right? That petty jerk, he's been holding a grudge against Star ever since she took his deal and has been spreading all sorts of rumors to slander her. We didn't do anything to him! Otherwise, the Williams family would have never let Star off so easily. They would have used it as an excuse to come after her. Star isn't stupid enough to give them that kind of ammunition."

Stella knew very well that they could fight amongst themselves all they wanted, but endangering someone's life was out of the question. They would have no ground to stand on, neither with the Williams family nor with the shareholders of The Williams Group.

Joshua played along. "So what happened?"

"There was a car accident, but we didn't hit him. He rear-ended someone else," Abby explained.

Joshua's eyes narrowed slightly. "The Quinn family?"

Abby nodded emphatically. "According to my research, the Quinn family has extraordinary influence among the major foreign families. I heard their family members marry into royalty—princesses, princes, even kings and queens. We don't have any personal connections with the Quinns, nor did we have a competitive edge, but for some reason, they specifically requested Star to lead the project."

Joshua's eyes deepened. "Whatever the reason, getting the opportunity is a good thing."

Abby smiled. "That's what we thought too. But while Star has handled some big projects since she started working, this was the first one of this magnitude."
