The Ex-Wife's Burning Elegance novel Chapter 1650

Aurora thought she had misheard. "Not going to make it? What do you mean?"

Princess Wright sobbed, "My brother was shot in the heart. He's in surgery right now, but the doctors say the chances of saving him are slim… My brother… he's probably going to die…"

Aurora's breath caught in her throat. "How could this happen? How did Eason get shot out of nowhere?"

Princess Wright had called Aurora in a panic. If she hadn't kidnapped Abby, her brother wouldn't be dying.

She incoherently recounted the sequence of events.

"My brother was shot once by Stella, and then the head of the Gardner family, Joshua, shot him in the heart. My mother fainted from shock, and my father is furious. He says he will never forgive them… or… or the Williams family."

Aurora's eyelids twitched as a sense of foreboding washed over her.

"Is King Wright blaming our family because Stella is from the Williams family?" she asked.

"That's part of it," Princess Wright said, "but my father thinks… he thinks this whole thing might have been a setup orchestrated by your family and Joshua."

Even with her intelligence, Aurora couldn't make sense of it.

"A setup? What do you mean?"

Even as she said it, Aurora knew her explanation would be unconvincing to the Wright family.

It was an undeniable fact that Joshua and The Williams Group had made a deal. And it was indeed a very generous deal. Otherwise, Skyler and Jonathan wouldn't have been willing to swallow their pride and play nice.

Princess Wright said, "Aurora, I believe you're not that kind of person, which is why I called you. But… it doesn't matter if I believe you, because my father doesn't. He thinks the Williams family and the Gardner family have teamed up to try and take down our family…"

It sounded incredible. After all, the Wright family was royalty, not easily toppled. But on second thought, the Gardner family was the wealthiest in the world, and the Williams family's power and connections were not to be underestimated.

If those two major families conspired to take down the Wright family with a well-thought-out plan, it wasn't entirely impossible.
