Joshua looked at him with a wry smile. "If you didn't kidnap her, why were you investigating her for no reason? Do you have a secret crush on her?"

At Joshua's words, the members of the Williams family all turned to look at Beckett again.

Beckett almost laughed at the absurd accusation. "What? So if I didn't kidnap her, it must mean I have a crush on her?"

Joshua effortlessly tossed the ball back into his court. "Then why were you investigating her?"

"You framed me!" Beckett gritted out.

Let's assume he had the capability to abduct her and transport her out of Solmaris. But he has no power or connections in the Delta. How could he have hidden Aurora so well that no one could find her, and how did he get in touch with the Fordham Group brothers?"

Skyler, always the shrewd patriarch, had pinpointed the key issue.

Beckett had influence in Solmaris; he could have pulled off the kidnapping.

But to keep Aurora hidden from the massive search launched by the Williams and Burton families, he would need considerable power in the Delta.

Beckett snorted, looking at Joshua as if to say, "Let's see you talk your way out of this one."

"There's a mysterious figure in the Delta known as ‘Mr. Vesper.' He always wears a mask in public, so no one knows his appearance, identity, or age.

The only thing known about him is that he's Asian.

This would perfectly explain why he was monitoring and investigating Aurora.

The only remaining question was Beckett's motive.
