The Ex-Wife's Burning Elegance novel Chapter 1912

Joshua Gardner didn't deny it. "Neville Connolly, I warned you to see less of Star and stay out of our business, but it seems you didn't take my warning to heart. This is just a reminder. If there's a next time... you'll truly see what despicable means."

Joshua's thin lips curled into a cold smile.

"I'd like to see who is more important in your heart, Marvin or minding other people's business."

Neville's pupils suddenly shrank.

He stared at Joshua with cold eyes, speaking word by word.

"As expected of the Gardners' usual style. Joshua, aren't you afraid that Stella will find out you've been scheming against the people around her and won't forgive you? The one she likes is the cheerful and sunny Joshua, the one who supports and understands her when she needs help, and wholeheartedly wants the best for her. Not the Joshua who constantly plays tricks behind her back and forces her friends away."

Joshua couldn't help but laugh. "Aren't you just trying to say that Star likes my good side? But what makes a good person, and what makes a bad one? I've never been a good person. If I were a good person, I wouldn't have helped Rachel Pearce just for a little fun. If I were a good person, I wouldn't have casually killed so many people. According to Mr. Connolly's standards for a good person, I'm not a judge, so I have no right to judge them. Whether they are good or bad, I shouldn't be the one to act. But I just don't want to see them bullying Star. My purpose in acting isn't to punish evil and promote good. Let alone if they are heinous, even if they are truly kind, as long as they block Star's way, I won't hesitate to eliminate them. I'm no Hero. I don't care about right or wrong, good or evil. I'll always side with the people close to me, not fairness and justice. If you think I'm a good person, it means you've never understood me. I won't stop Mr. Connolly from being a good person. But if you get in my way, don't blame me for being ruthless."

Joshua's eyes grew darker and deeper.

"Neville, this is the last chance I'm giving you."

Neville looked at Joshua. After a while, he said, "Fine. Since you're digging your own grave, I won't say any more."

For the rest of the time, the two had no conversation.

More than ten minutes later, Marvin and Stella came downstairs, talking and laughing.

Stella was still holding the gift Marvin had given her.

After coming downstairs, Stella faintly sensed that the atmosphere between Neville and Joshua was not quite right.
