The Ex-Wife's Burning Elegance novel Chapter 2006

Stella turned to Dr. Winter. "How did you know?"

Dr. Winter paused for a moment before replying, "I-I was just making a wild guess. I wanted to remind you, just in case... you hadn't noticed."

Stella had a pretty good impression of Dr. Winter.

After all, she was the one who had noticed Colby's suspicious behavior last time and warned her.

If not for her, Stella would still be playing the fool under Joshua's lies.

"Thank you for the heads-up, Dr. Winter," Stella said softly. "I'll keep an eye on it."

"Does Mr. Gardner know?" Dr. Winter asked.

"Yes, he knows."

Dr. Winter hesitated. "So... what have you two decided? What are you going to do about the baby?"

Stella gave her a long look. "We've decided to keep it."

Asking such a personal question was bordering on inappropriate.

They weren't exactly close enough to be swapping pregnancy plans.

Realizing she was overstepping, Dr. Winter offered a smooth smile. "No wonder Mr. Gardner agreed to the hypnosis. A baby is definitely a great motivator for his recovery... Congratulations, Ms. Cameron."

They chatted for a few more minutes until Calico bounded over, aggressively rubbing against Stella's legs.

Stella bent down and scooped the cat up, smiling. "Calico, how do you always know when I'm here?"

The cat purred softly in her arms, soaking up the attention.

Dr. Winter watched the scene in shock. "This cat is actually that friendly?"

During their chat earlier, Dr. Winter had mentioned she'd been visiting frequently to exchange medical insights with Colby.

Stella scratched the cat's head. "Yeah, she's a sweetheart."

Dr. Winter held out a hand, looking somewhat helpless. "The last time I saw this little guy, I thought it was so cute and tried to pet it. It ended up clawing me."
