The Ex-Wife's Burning Elegance novel Chapter 2031

"When Stella caused that car accident and nearly killed Jonathan, she certainly didn't care about family ties," Queenie scoffed. "And when she brought those two brothers from the Delta to my engagement party, where was her sense of loyalty then?"

Aurora shook her head. "Queenie, the Stella we're dealing with today isn't someone we can just swat away. She holds a tremendous amount of leverage within The Williams Group now. If any scandal breaks out around her, the board will spend millions to bury it. Her stability is tied to the company's bottom line. Going after her directly means declaring war on the entire empire."

Queenie crossed her arms, clearly unconvinced. "She had no problem blasting your scandal all over the place. Why is everyone suddenly walking on eggshells around her? She only got this far because of Joshua Gardner. Not to be a bitch, but aside from a pretty face, what else does she even have going for her? First she latched onto Haynes O'Brien, and after her divorce, she clung to Joshua. Are you all just terrified of Joshua?"

Aurora fought back a wave of annoyance. She absolutely loathed dealing with idiots. Queenie had zero business acumen and it showed.

After a long silence, Aurora finally replied, "Fine. Let's say you're right and she relied entirely on Joshua. But our situations are still fundamentally different. Stella's rank in the company is higher than mine, and she's sitting in a core executive role. Her reputation isn't just a personal issue anymore; it affects our stock prices and our stakeholders."

Queenie opened her mouth to argue, but Aurora cut her off.

"Queenie, you don't understand how the corporate world works, which is why you think this is so simple. Listen to me—Jonathan and I will handle Stella. You just focus on reeling in Haynes."

Queenie pouted, swallowing her bitter resentment, but didn't argue further.
