The Ex-Wife's Burning Elegance novel Chapter 2057

"I'm going to start working now. The environment in here isn't exactly pleasant. Do you want to leave for a bit?"

A subtle smirk touched the corner of Joshua's lips. "Honestly, I'm quite curious to see what you're capable of, Ms. Cameron."

When Stella offered to do the work herself, there hadn't been a shred of hesitation on her face.

She was incredibly confident.

It wasn't a forced arrogance, but a natural, ingrained certainty.

Stella understood why he might be skeptical, so she let it go.

"Alright. I'm going to go change."

When she came back in her work clothes, she found Joshua had disappeared. She had no idea where he went.

She stood there for a few seconds before shrugging it off and starting the process of mixing and thinning the primer.

Once it was prepped, Stella was just about to start spraying when a familiar, crisp voice sounded right next to her.

"Is the primer ready?"

Stella's head snapped up. Standing right beside her was Joshua, now fully suited up in protective gear and a respirator.

Caught off guard, she jumped slightly.

"How do you walk without making a sound?"

Joshua replied smoothly, "You were just too focused."

Stella eyed his hazmat suit. "What are you doing?"

He picked up a spare spray gun. "How long is this going to take you alone? I need the car back soon. Helping you out saves me time."

Without waiting for her to respond, he completely ignored her and got straight to work.

Watching him expertly handle the equipment, Stella felt a sudden, inexplicable stab of guilt.

Earlier, she had suspected he was just making things difficult for her on purpose.

Now, it seemed she had been projecting her own cynical thoughts onto him.

Repainting an entire car was a massive undertaking, especially with such a complex color profile. If she had to do it alone, it would have taken ten days, minimum.
