The Ex-Wife's Burning Elegance novel Chapter 2135

McCoy's grip on the phone tightened.

A late-night movie?

Just hearing those words felt unbearably intimate.

Since Aurora hadn't saved the caller's name in her contacts, McCoy had no idea who was on the other end.

"Who is this?" he asked coldly.

After a few seconds of silence, a reply came through.

"My apologies. I dialed the wrong number."

With that, the line went dead before McCoy could say another word.

McCoy let out a dry, humorless laugh.

He remembered perfectly well that the man had addressed her as 'Ms. Williams' right from the start. How could it be a wrong number?

His gaze was freezing as he looked at his wife. "Aurora, who is that? What's going on between you two? Why is he asking you out to a midnight movie?

You'd better give me a reasonable explanation."

Joshua was important, but so was McCoy.

Aurora had no intention of getting a divorce anytime soon, so she had to put her date with Joshua on hold and focus on explaining things to her husband.

...

On the other side of the city, Joshua ended the call and looked at Stella, who was sitting next to him.

"You believe me now? Her husband won't let her leave."

Because of various incidents, Aurora had failed to show up several times, which had sparked Stella's suspicions.

Once or twice was fine, but her constant absence was highly questionable.

Stella hadn't thought much about the situation with Shayla before, but piecing recent events together gave her pause.

After she voiced her doubts, Joshua had called Aurora right in front of her and put it on speakerphone.

That effectively shut down all of Stella's suspicions.

The voice on the other end belonged to McCoy, and he sounded furious.
