Stella packed a bag with Joshua's clothes and toiletries before heading back to the hospital.

When she arrived, she found that he was awake, with Laurel sitting quietly in the room.

Seeing her return, Laurel stood up.

"You're back."

Stella nodded. "How is he doing?"

"The doctor said he's out of the woods for now," Laurel replied.

Stella glanced at Joshua, only to find him watching her in silence.

"How are you feeling?" she asked.

"I'm alright," he said.

Laurel checked the time and turned to Stella. "I have a few things to handle at the office, so I'll head out now."

"I'll walk you out," Stella offered.

She turned back to the bed. "Get some rest. I'll be right back."

"Okay," Joshua said.

Once they stepped out of the room, Stella asked, "Did he tell you how he got sick?"

"It's pretty much exactly what you guessed," Laurel confirmed.

Stella's eyes narrowed slightly. "Do you think he remembers anything?"

"I don't know." Laurel shook her head. "He might have remembered something, or he might just suspect something is off.

I can't ask too many questions. The more I prod, the easier it is for him to catch on."

She sighed softly before continuing. "I asked him outright if he remembered anything, and he neither confirmed nor denied it.

Maybe he's using my reactions to test the waters."

Laurel turned to look at her. "I'm sorry, but you'll have to make the next decision on your own."

She had already intervened twice. There wouldn't be a third time. She had to step back.

Stella understood her meaning and walked her to the elevators.
