The Ex-Wife's Triumph novel Chapter 227

Ethan watched Seven's retreating back, muttering to himself: "Is my face that terrifying, or am I just incredibly ugly?"

He held up his phone and scrutinized himself repeatedly—his features were regular; while perhaps not exquisite, they definitely qualified as "handsome."

So, leaning against the railing, he took a selfie and posted it to his social feed: "Kids run when they see me. Why on earth?"

The message had just gone out when a notification from Kingsley arrived: [Come down. Don't disturb them.]

Ethan looked at it, his first reaction being "Kingsley isn't going to settle the score with me, is he?" He hurriedly sent a voice message back: [Going down is no problem, but you can't hit me, okay?]

Kingsley only replied: [Down!]

Ethan put away his phone and waved at Seven in the distance, wanting to say goodbye.

But the little guy acted as if he hadn't seen anything and immediately turned his head to the side.

Ethan's heart was pricked again: "Am I really that awful?"

Pondering this all the way down, he failed to find Kingsley and Xavier in the cabin, so he walked outside. Sure enough, he saw Kingsley leaning against the railing.

"Hey, my nephew hides when he sees me. Do I look that scary?" he approached and asked.

Kingsley remembered what Seven had said earlier, and the cold, hard corners of his mouth actually hooked up slightly. "His mother taught him well. Don't talk to strangers."

Ethan suddenly realized, "Oh! So he thinks I'm a human trafficker!"

"Don't talk nonsense in front of him. Who you are isn't important," Kingsley said coldly.

Before getting Lucy's permission, he would absolutely not rashly let the child know these things.
