The Ex-Wife's Triumph novel Chapter 234

"No," Lucy replied coldly, leaving zero room for negotiation.

Kingsley gave a low murmur of acknowledgment. An imperceptible disappointment colored his tone, but he still tried to explain himself.

"I'm not trying to take him away from you. I just want... to give him more love."

"He has plenty of people who love him. He doesn't need yours."

Lucy kept her eyes down on her phone, a mocking edge to her voice.

"If Mr. Sherwood has so much love to give, maybe you should save it for someone who actually needs it."

Kingsley wasn't deterred by her barbs. He looked at her steadily, his voice clear and resolute. "I only give my love to the people who matter to me."

Lucy didn't bother responding, simply putting her phone away as they arrived at the hotel.

She opened the door and stepped out first, her tone icy. "Hand Seven to me."

"Let me carry him up. Shifting him around will just wake him."

Kingsley's voice was soft, like a gentle breeze, laced with a careful plea.

Lucy met his gaze, her eyes turning glacial. "What's the point of doing this, Kingsley?"

"There is one." He kept his voice low, pulling his coat tighter around Seven to shield him.

"I just want to spend a little more time with you both."

Lucy didn't argue further. Seeing that the driver had unloaded their bags, she walked over, grabbed two suitcases, and headed toward the hotel lobby without looking back.

The nanny quickly grabbed the remaining luggage and hurried after her.

At the reception desk, Lucy collected her room keys while the staff called the elevator for them.

As they stepped into the elevator, the annoyance on Lucy's face was painfully obvious. She stared at the ascending numbers, her fingers unconsciously gripping the keycard tight.

Two minutes later, the elevator chimed and the doors slid open.
