Scarlett Jennings looked at the girl in front of her, as she had initially suspected, she was indeed a Walking Corpse.
Although the skin and muscles had taken on the corpse’s characteristic grayish hue, her youthfulness was still apparent.
Seventeen, just two years older than Scarlett’s current body.
Yet, like Lily Phoenix, she had died in the prime of her youth.
Perhaps it was the bitterness of her heart that brought her back as this Walking Corpse, seeking revenge on the one who caused her death.
Scarlett Jennings initially held the Talisman in her palm but then decisively put it away, gazing at the girl and speaking softly,
"You don’t need to know who I am, but I can only give you three days at most. Once these three days are up, you must leave."
Regardless of whether she had avenged herself or not, Scarlett Jennings couldn’t allow a Walking Corpse to roam the palace.
Not to mention, merely coming into contact with the corpse energy would affect many people.
Moreover, if the Walking Corpse were to contaminate other things, it might even evolve into an Undead, which would be a real trouble then.
Upon hearing she was only given three days, Arwen moved her lips to protest, but Scarlett Jennings interrupted her decisively,
"Eira was contaminated by your corpse energy; when she interacted with Nanny Li today, she indirectly affected her."
Scarlett Jennings had deduced the connection between this "person," Nanny Li, and Eira over the past few days. Because of this, she didn’t react much when she first noticed Eira’s issue.
This comment quickly silenced Arwen across from her.
Influencing Nanny Li was something she least wanted to see.
To avoid affecting her, she intentionally kept Nanny Li outside when she visited yesterday.
Unexpectedly, she still affected her.
Thinking of this, Arwen gritted her teeth and replied with difficulty,
"Alright."
In three days, she would resolve this cause and effect.
Scarlett Jennings then found the other girl living with her, Qingge.
To her surprise, although Qingge lived under the same roof with Arwen like Eira, she was not contaminated by the corpse energy at all.
It seemed as if someone had proactively isolated her from being contaminated by corpse energy.
Scarlett Jennings pondered briefly but chose not to delve further. After confirming no trouble would arise on that side, she leisurely returned to her courtyard.
Just upon arriving at the entrance, she saw a ray of Golden Light emerge from the courtyard. Shortly after, Samuel Chalmers appeared with his team, spotting her, his pace slowed instantly; his dark eyes deepened, simply saying,
"Back."
Scarlett Jennings nodded, "Back."
With that, she tugged at his arm, leading him back inside.
Samuel Chalmers tactfully hid her cold hand under her cape, feeling its chill, before leading everyone back into the hall.
Once he dismissed the Palace Attendant, Scarlett Jennings briefly mentioned her discovery of the Walking Corpse.
It was a palace affair; she didn’t know what commotion Arwen intended to stir, so naturally, she had to inform Samuel Chalmers in advance.
Samuel Chalmers, hearing her concise explanation, showed no intention to stop the counterpart nor felt any particular way, simply saying,
"I’ll have someone monitor it, you don’t need to worry."
He brought her into the palace not to deal with such matters.
Even in the original timeline, she had been busy with various matters, cultivating for another two years without a day’s rest.
Now that she’s here, he hoped she could take a good rest.
Besides, these matters were the responsibility of the Mystical Auditory Office.
Understanding Samuel’s intention of not wanting her involved, Scarlett Jennings did not refute. She hadn’t planned on intervening if it hadn’t been for someone landing in front of her.
