Wander Mountain County, Monthain Primary School.
Today marks the tenth anniversary of Monthain Primary School, and the campus is hosting a special parent-child fair.
In addition to performances and stalls, there’s also a parent-child sports day.
Olivia Xalvadora had already agreed with Greta a few days ago for him to attend.
As Olivia Xalvadora’s only guardian, Greta seldom shows up in front of her classmates or teachers aside from occasionally visiting her at the orphanage.
Although Stella Gibson always says that he appears normal now, Greta is still worried.
If Olivia Xalvadora’s classmates find out her guardian is an Undying Bone, would they ostracize her?
In the past two years, he has learned quite a bit online; one thing being school bullying.
Greta worries about affecting Olivia Xalvadora’s social interactions because of him.
Not knowing what to do, he asked Stella Gibson, his Contractor.
Stella Gibson, upon hearing this, almost didn’t hesitate,
"School anniversary, huh? Of course you should go! Are you worried I have tasks here? Don’t worry, I’m giving you time off, and I need to take Ashton Todd back to my hometown in a few days anyway. Relax and have fun!"
Greta still felt uncertain and tilted his head,
"What should I, prepare?"
Stella Gibson recalled her own school anniversaries as a child and said,
"Bring some snacks and drinks. Right, it’s best to buy a pair of matching outfits so everyone knows you’re her guardian."
Stella Gibson decided right away, "I’ll get the outfits ready for you. You just go! I guarantee you’ll love it!"
...
So, Greta got his time off and came according to the time and place Olivia Xalvadora mentioned.
The matching outfit was already sent in advance to the orphanage director. Greta got dressed and arrived at the primary school entrance, just about to go in, when suddenly he was bumped by a child holding a sausage.
Greta, naturally steady as a mountain, left the child feeling like he ran into a wall of iron. Seeing his fallen sausage, the child burst into tears.
Greta was most afraid of children crying. He bent down to try to console him, but awkwardly. The child’s parent came over upon hearing the commotion, scolding softly,
"How can you cry after bumping into someone? Don’t cry, you can buy another sausage."
They then noticed Greta’s pants stained with sauce and apologized,
"Sorry, here’s a wet wipe to clean yourself up."
Greta then noticed the stain on his pants, took the offered wet wipe, and began to clean it earnestly.
But the stain was very conspicuous, leaving a noticeable mark even after cleaning.
It was his first time attending Olivia Xalvadora’s school anniversary event, and Greta wanted to be spotless.
Looking at the primary school gate in front of him, Greta pondered for a moment and pulled out his phone.
He found the matching outfits Stella Gibson had ordered for him online and checked the shipping location.
In a neighboring province, over three hundred kilometers away.
There’s still time.
...
Meanwhile, the school anniversary started, and Olivia Xalvadora was wearing a little red tracksuit with "Cathay" printed on the chest, holding a small red flag, eagerly watching the direction of the gate.
It was fifteen minutes past the time she agreed with her uncle, and he hadn’t arrived yet.
But Olivia Xalvadora wasn’t worried. Her uncle promised he would come, so he definitely would.
With this thought, she squatted down, idly watching ants crawling on the ground.
Suddenly, a small foot appeared in front of her, nearly stepping on an ant crawling by.
The ant, startled, quickly changed direction to avoid it.
Olivia Xalvadora was a bit upset and looked up to see it was the chubby boy from her class who sat behind her.
"Olivia Xalvadora, is your dad not here? You’re such a liar, you don’t even have a dad!"
Due to her early experiences, Olivia Xalvadora was more mature than other kids. Facing the chubby boy’s provocation, she merely stood up silently and turned to walk away.
The chubby boy, seeing she ignored him, wasn’t having it and quickly blocked her way, saying even louder,
"My mom said you live in an orphanage! You’re an orphan, and orphans don’t have parents!"
