The reason for asking this is because many years ago, an Evil Master pursued the Merfolk to snatch the Heart Protecting Scale.
Harrison Ward and the others know that what Scarlett Jennings and her companions are doing now is for the Merfolk and the numerous Sea Clan residing in the Cathay seas.
They know nothing about the Array and cannot help; the only thing they can contribute is themselves.
The Zimmerman family members, hearing about the Heart Protecting Scale, were naturally intrigued — any Master focused on Magic Artifacts would be tempted by such an item.
But it was only a fleeting moment of interest, as they quickly sobered up and said,
"Although it’s possible, have you considered that shedding your Heart Protecting Scale will significantly damage your cultivation."
Though not fatal, it would mean losing the most vital item to protect oneself.
Since ancient times, no Merfolk has ever taken their Heart Protecting Scale lightly.
Most of the young Merfolk who came with Harrison Ward were the younger generation. Hearing the Zimmerman family’s words, they felt fear and tension, yet remained resolute.
Like Harrison Ward and Noah Zimmerman, who showed firm determination,
"We’ve made up our minds."
They said,
"This is the sea our clan has lived in for thousands of years. To protect this sea, we should do our part."
"Yes! We have no regrets!"
The young Merfolk shouted, and Harrison Ward was even preparing to remove his Heart Protecting Scale, only for the next moment to be hit by a huge wave.
In an instant, the young Merfolk were swept to the other side by the wave.
Looking again, they saw several Elders of the Merfolk glaring furiously at Harrison Ward’s group, 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦
"This is absurd!"
Is the Heart Protecting Scale something that can be removed casually?
Noah Zimmerman and others thought the Elders were there to stop them and couldn’t help but say,
"Elders! They set up the barrier for us. We don’t need to move our entire clan thanks to these people. This is our sea, should we really do nothing?!"
Noah Zimmerman also said,
"Elders! We want to do our part for this sea too!
If you’re worried about being unable to protect ourselves without the Heart Protecting Scale, I’ve been on land for years and won’t encounter any danger. I don’t need demonic power, so using my Heart Protecting Scale is most suitable!"
As soon as he finished speaking, Harrison Ward softly rebuked him,
"You need to protect yourself more on land! There’s no need for you to do it; since it was my idea, it should be me."
The younger ones began arguing fervently.
Scarlett Jennings and the Zimmerman family couldn’t get a word in, watching as the approaching Elders, looking grim, finally interrupted the young ones,
"Silence! While we old folks are still around, there’s no need for you young ones!"
If the pollution wasn’t cleansed, these old folks would inevitably die from severe contamination.
Though stubborn, their decision to relocate back then was only to preserve the Merfolk clan.
Now that there’s no need for relocation, they should do what they, as Elders, ought to do.
Saying so, regardless of the young ones’ reactions, the three leaders began to remove their own Heart Protecting Scales.
The bronze cover is vast, and a single piece of Heart Protecting Scale is certainly insufficient.
To repair the bronze cover completely, they would require the Heart Protecting Scales from several young Merfolk, but these old folks are different.
As Elders, their Heart Protecting Scales are sufficient for full reparations.
The three Heart Protecting Scales, stained with Merfolk blood, glimmered brilliantly in the sunlight. Seeing their actions, Harrison Ward’s group had tears in their eyes,
"Elders!!"
The three, having forcibly removed their Heart Protecting Scales, seemed to lose half of their vitality, with signs of aging appearing on their faces.
Yet, when looking at the young ones before them, their stern gazes rarely showed affection,
Even though they still lived in neighboring courtyards, Samuel Chalmers realized for the first time that she was so distant from him.
There was even a tendency to grow increasingly distant.
He didn’t want to disturb her intent to protect the Cathay sea; since she didn’t come to him, he didn’t take the initiative either.
But now, with the Sea Barrier complete, he wouldn’t fall into slumber again for a while.
He wanted... to sort out the issues between them.
The dusk glow gradually turned from golden to pink on the sea surface.
Samuel Chalmers stood on the sea dyed pink by the dusk, looking at Scarlett Jennings, extending his hand towards her once more.
In his palm was the Heart Stone she had returned to him.
She didn’t understand what he meant, and heard him say,
"You said last time, if I was willing to endure your Harvey Bolt, you’d take back this stone."
Samuel Chalmers looked at her, his Golden Light seemingly tinged with red.
"You missed last time, so it doesn’t count."
Scarlett Jennings pursed her lips, her eyes calm, and asked him,
"So what do you want to say?"
Samuel Chalmers said,
"I would like to ask you to strike with lightning once more, and if you hit, I hope you will accept it again."
He spoke of "if you hit," but they both knew in their hearts.
As long as Scarlett Jennings made a move, even if she intentionally missed like last time, he would ensure that the lightning—
struck him accurately.
This was his apology to her.
