Zaylee turned directly to Jeremy and said, “Jeremy, wash a small bowl of strawberries and bring them here”
“Yes, Mrs. Zaylee.” Jeremy left right away.
Claudia looked at Zaylee in shock. “You’re really planning to eat them? Zaylee, I don’t mean to offend, but just look at those strawberries. They’re small, uneven, and the color isn’t even. You can tell they came from some cheap, low–quality farm. They might not even pass a basic safety check! Your status is too important for this. What if something happens after you eat them? It’s better to be cautious!”
Zaylee felt a headache forming from all of Claudia’s nonstop nagging. To quiet Claudia and calm her worries, she said to Jeremy, who had just returned with the washed strawberries, “Jeremy, scan them first.”
Jeremy immediately took out a portable food scanner and ran it across the bowl of bright red strawberries.
The screen lit up right away with glowing green words. “Quality: Premium. Nutritional Content: 187% Above Standard Levels. Safety Rating: Highest.”
“Feeling better now?” Zaylee picked up a strawberry, waved it in front of Claudia, and eagerly popped it into her mouth.
The very next moment, pure joy and surprise spread across her face. Her eyes even narrowed slightly in pleasure. “Mmm! This tastes amazing!”
She sincerely praised, grabbed another strawberry, and invited Claudia once more. “Claudia, try one too. Believe me. This is better than any strawberry I’ve ever eaten!”
In truth, the moment Zaylee ate the first strawberry, its rich, mouthwatering scent had already begun spreading through the air.
Claudia had been drawn in by the smell long ago and had secretly swallowed several times.
So when Zaylee invited her again, she acted polite, as if she were doing Zaylee a favor, and gently picked one up before placing it into her mouth.
But the instant the strawberry burst across her tongue, the powerful sweetness, the deep layers of flavor, and the unbelievable fruit fragrance took over her senses immediately.
Claudia froze in place. Shock hit her hard.
Is this really a strawberry?
How could it taste… this good?!
If this is what strawberries should taste like, then what were all those big, round, perfect royal strawberries I ate before?
Cheap imitations?!

Still, she forced herself to stay calmy on the surface. She even frowned slightly and placed the remaining half of the strawberry down. Using a handkerchief to dab the corner of her mouth, she said against her real feelings. “The flavor is just average. Honestly, it’s too sweet. A bit overwhelming.”
“Oh? You don’t like it?” Zaylee showed just the right amount of disappointment. “I was thinking that if you liked them. I’d let you take some home. But if you think they’re only average, then forget it.”
With that, she happily ate several more herself, then handed the half–filled bowl to Jeremy. “You should try some too. It’s a thoughtful gift from Elizabeth.
Jeremy accepted it, clearly touched. The second he tasted one, his face brightened, and he started praising it nonstop. “Wow! Mrs. Hewitt really did an incredible job with these strawberries! I’ve lived all these years and never tasted strawberries this good. Mrs. Hewitt is truly considerate!”
Right then. Trevor walked in from outside wearing his uniform, standing tall and straight. Hearing the lively voices in the living room, he asked casually, “What’s everyone so excited about?”
Jeremy quickly offered him the bowl, which still held a few strawberries. “Welcome back, Commander Hewitt. These were sent by Mrs. Hewitt. They taste amazing. You should try one.”
Trevor had never been much interested in juicy fruit, but since it came from his daughter–in–law, he took one out of courtesy and tossed it into his mouth without much thought.
The next second, he suddenly stopped chewing. A flicker of surprise crossed his usually stern face. “This is a strawberry? Why doesn’t it taste like the ones I’ve eaten before?”
That clean sweetness, never heavy, the burst of juice, and the unique fragrance completely overturned his old idea of what strawberries should taste like.
Zaylee smiled. “Well? It tastes good, right?”
