She had already heard all about Elizabeth’s so–called “dark history,” and she was quite dissatisfied about it.
Cristian wasn’t just the kingdom’s hero. To her, he was like family..
He was capable, upright, and steady–a truly exceptional young man.
But his marriage had always been a worry.
When the main system used a little “special authority” to arrange that engagement for the perfect genetic match. Isabella hadn’t fully approved, but she didn’t step in to stop it either.
She figured that if Cristian really couldn’t accept it, they could call it off after the one–year mark.
No matter what, she wouldn’t let the kingdom’s top general get shortchanged by marriage.
Still, things seemed to be going better than she’d expected.
At the very least, Zaylee was happy with her new daughter–in–law, and Elizabeth didn’t seem completely hopeless.
“Respecting and caring for elders is always a good thing,” Isabella said softly, hinting that she was tentatively approving of Elizabeth.
Seeing her friend’s reaction, Zaylee grinned and couldn’t resist bragging more. “Oh, that reminds me! Elizabeth didn’t just send strawberries. She sent sweet potatoes and regular potatoes, too! They looked kind of plain, so I didn’t include them in what I sent you. I’ll try them first. If they’re good, I’ll share half with you later!”
Her mix of protectiveness and playful eagerness to share made Isabella laugh. The stress from days of running state affairs felt a little lighter.
She glanced at the few red strawberries left, then at her old friend’s joyful face on the screen. A genuine curiosity began to grow inside her for that young girl so far away on Garbage Planet–a girl she had never
met.
As the Hewitts‘ visit approached, Benjamin’s anxiety twisted tighter, like vines wrapping around a tree. Scarface, who had taken the mission, had vanished completely. There had been no word from him.
By dark web rules and Scarface’s greed, he would have demanded his final payment immediately after finishing the mission.
Ye a day left before the deadline, his communicator stayed dead silent. Benjamin’s heart pounded at the emptiness.

Reading his tense expression. Alessia carefully handed him a cup of chamomile tea and asked softly. “Benjamin. Commander Hewitt and Mrs. Zaylee will arrive tomorrow. Still no word from Eliza? If she isn’t here, won’t they think we…”
She didn’t dare say the word “tricked,” but worry was written all over her face.
Benjamin rubbed his forehead impatiently and snapped, “Enough!”
He took a deep, ragged breath, trying to calm the anger inside, and braced himself. “If Elizabeth doesn’t come tomorrow, we’ll just tell them she’s upset about her exile, staying on Planet A001 to clear her mind, and doesn’t want to return yet.”
Sometimes honesty was the only option left.
Alessia wanted to protest, but a single glance at Benjamin’s cold, unyielding stare made her hold back. The worry etched on her face only grew deeper.
By night. Benjamin couldn’t sit still any longer.
He went into his study alone, ran the encryption sequence, and logged into the hidden dark web interface.
Holding onto a last thread of hope, he sent a message to Scarface’s contact code, “How’s the mission going? Do you still want the final payment?”
He didn’t expect an answer. Maybe Scarface had failed or even been killed already.
To his shock, a notification pinged minutes later. There was a reply!
Benjamin felt a rush of excitement and immediately tapped it open.
It wasn’t a text but a short video.
The background was a dim, filthy garbage heap.
In the middle, a man covered head to toe in grime, his face and body marked with bruises and dried blood, was bent over. Slowly and mechanically, he picked up a rusty scrap of metal and tossed it into an old wooden handcart.
Even with his face swollen beyond recognition, Benjamin recognized him instantly. It was Scarface!
Gone was any hint of the outlaw’s fierceness. Scarface looked like nothing more than a beaten worker, broken and forced into submission.
Benjamin was so shocked that he nearly jumped out of his chair. He wanted to yell at Scarface, but what little sense he had left made him type a cautious message instead. “Who are you?”
Almost immediately, he actually received the same reply. “Who are you?”
