“Planet A001?” Norman froze, fear flooding his eyes even more. “Y–you’re… sending me into exile on Planet A001?”

In his mind, Planet A001 was a barren, remote place of exile.

“What exile? We’re sending you there for treatment!” Dominic said firmly. “There’s a farm on Planet A001. The natural food produced there can heal mental power damage! A lot of our injured soldiers have already gone, and they’re improving! The commander personally ordered us to find scattered veterans like you and send you there!”

Heal mental power damage?

A farm?

Natural food?

Norman was stunned. The information sounded completely absurd, far beyond anything he could comprehend.

But Dominic’s serious expression–and the words “personally ordered by the commander“-didn’t sound like a lie.

“I–is it really true?” His voice trembled.

“Absolutely true!” one of the soldiers beside Dominic couldn’t help adding. “Norman, the owner of that farm, is Commander Hewitt’s daughter–in–law! She’s incredible! A lot of our guys are counting on that place to survive!”

The Commander Hewitt’s daughter–in–law… If that was true…

His breathing quickened, and a light he hadn’t shown in years suddenly ignited in his eyes. He grabbed Dominic’s hand tightly and asked urgently, “Captain! Then, can it treat Sophia? My daughter… Her mental power isn’t damaged. It’s defective! It’s a congenital defect! Can it be treated?”

Dominic hesitated.

What they knew for certain was that it worked on damage. As for congenital defects… “Norman, for now, we can confirm it’s highly effective for repairing damaged mental power. Sophia’s condition…” He paused, then added quickly when he saw the hope fading from Norman’s eyes, “I can’t guarantee it. But we can try! What if it works? And even if it doesn’t fully cure her, the farm’s environment will help your recovery. You can work there and earn money. It’s still better than this hellhole! And if needed, you can save up and come back to Centria Planet for surgery later. But first, you need to survive. You need to stay alive for her.”

Those words–both hopeful and grounded–struck directly at the most fragile, realistic part of Norman’s heart.

Yeah, if he collapsed or died, what would happen to Sophia?

Go somewhere with even a sliver of hope first. He needed to stabilize himself and then plan the future. He didn’t hesitate much longer and nodded firmly.

“I go! Captain, I’ll go with you!”

Seeing him agree, Dominic let out a quiet breath of relief.

Norman immediately tried to get out of the medical pod, eager to pack his things. It was as if he could fly back to bring his wife and daughter at once.

But as he moved, his eyes caught Emmett standing quietly to the side. Emmett was genuinely happy for him, but deep in his gaze, there was an unmistakable trace of loneliness and envy.

Norman paused.

Emmett… This former Fifth Military soldier was his only friend in this hellish mine. The one who had pulled him back from the brink more times than he could count.

He was injured himself, yet he always looked after someone even worse off.

Now that Norman had a chance to leave… Was he really going to leave Emmett behind in this living hell?

Norman clenched his teeth, then turned to Dominic, his voice filled with pleading. “Captain… I have one more request. Emmett’s a veteran too. He left the service because of injuries from the battlefield. He has no family here… So, can you… Take him with us too? He’s… he’s a good man. Really.”

Dominic looked at Emmett.

Emmett clearly hadn’t expected this. He froze for a moment, then waved his hand quickly, forcing a wry, self–deprecating smile. “Norman, don’t be ridiculous! That’s the First Military’s territory. What would I even be doing there? I’m fine since I’m just a lone guy. I can survive anywhere. Don’t worry about me. Just take your wife and daughter and go.”

“No!” Norman insisted, staring at Dominic. “Captain, I swear on my honor that Emmett is a good man! He’s saved me more times than I can count! Please… at least ask!”

Seeing the earnest plea in Norman’s eyes, then looking at Emmety’s weathered but upright face, Dominic fell silent for a moment.

Then, he stepped aside and opened a secure line to his superiors, briefly explaining the situation—especially emphasizing Emmett’s status as a former Fifth Military soldier and Norman’s strong request.

There was a short silence on the other end before a clear reply came through. “The Commander’s order stands. Retired soldiers, regardless of former affiliation. Any veteran of the kingdom who is of good character and has fallen into hardship due to service- related injuries, upon verification, is eligible for acceptance. You can bring him too.”

The order was simple but carried a sense of authority and unity that transcended factional divides.

Dominic ended the call, walked back, and nodded at Norman–who was watching him anxiously–and at the slightly stunned Emmett. “Command approved it. As long as there’s no issue with his record, he’s coming with us.”
