There was a whole stack of single use scrolls and talismans next to him, so he had been busy for some time, and the note of envy was clear in his voice.

The Monk looked skeptical, but he had no way to know of all the commotion that had been going on within the Clan.

Don’t be in a rush to pick something just because it’s different. Make sure that it is better than what you have." The Elder warned.

"Thank you, Elder." The young man replied, then ran out of the building clutching the [Shatter] skill book.

"You’re totally going to make him pay for that book later, aren’t you?"

The old Monk smirked at Karl and tapped his nose. "He’s been helping out here for a century, I suppose that he’s earned at least that much of a perk. Besides, I can just make another copy if I need it."

The Monk had a point. He was an Inscriptionist, and he knew the skill. There was no good reason why he couldn’t have made a copy for the man earlier and given it to him, other than wanting him to keep working hard on his own to gain opportunities.
