Karl gave Shade one final warning before they all left.
"You need to listen to the Elder. She controls everything from behind the scenes, and she can make your Anilla either very happy or very miserable with extra schoolwork if you don’t play along," he warned the Moor Cat.
Shade gave the woman a suspicious glare, which made the Elder laugh.
"That’s part of my duties as a mother. I can also change your afternoon snack from Forest Pheasant to mud skipper fish if you’re not willing to cooperate."
That was all it took to convince Shade that this woman was not playing around. If she was willing to make him eat that horrible fish as a snack, she was capable of anything. He might be fond of his pet Elf, but some sacrifices had to be made in order to keep the peace.
The others left the apartment, and Karl was about to close the door, when he heard his name being called from down the street.
"Karl! Don’t run away yet." Nyan called as she ran toward him with Geoff in her arms.
"What’s up? You look a bit panicked, but Geoff doesn’t appear to be injured." Karl replied with an easy smile.
"Oh, Geoff is good. I just happened to be holding him when I heard your voice. I actually came out to ask if you wanted to go on an adventure with us.
You see, the Dungeon is still all packed with VIP sorts from the Clans, and only the groups close to peak Immortal are getting in. They’re trying to do a thing, I think, or push someone to advance to Supreme Ranked.
So, we’re out for the round.
But that means that the Elders from the other Sects are all busy, and we can go out on an adventure looking for good stuff without them interfering.
There is nothing worse than finding good stuff only to have it poached from you at the last second."
"So, your thought is to take me with you instead of one of the Elders, and we can explore the wilderness near the Clan Compound, looking for good stuff?" Karl asked.
Nyan nodded eagerly. "I think that it will be perfect. Of course, Geoff will have to stay behind, as he doesn’t have his much physical strength or mana pool yet, but I think that we can get a few others to go with us."
"Your usual group with Jin, Argoth and Alisha?"
Nyan shook her head. "No, they’re off doing important people stuff. But we can likely get Kora and some of the Lycans. They love going on adventures in the woods."
Karl thought about it for a moment, then had a brilliant idea.
"Or, we could try to recruit a few from the outer city. I think that the Blue Elves might be up for some adventures on land, and they’ve got strength."
Nyan frowned. "That’s dangerous. The ones who are weak enough that they might go with us are often recruiters for human traffickers. You might not be worried about it, but I would have a hard time escaping."
"Alright then, no random group members from outside the Clan. At least if you get abducted by a Clan member, they’ll bring you home."
Nyan laughed, then got excited. "Is your Dana Mage inside? Can I come visit?"
