Chapter 1787: First Customer

The front door swung open, and a young woman at near Peak Immortal ducked inside the store.

"Oh, I do hope that you’re open. My best outfit got torn, and I’ve got a meeting to get to in the New Home compound. I heard there is a portal from here. Can you fix my dress?"

"Our first customer! Go ahead, Meisje."

"If you can show me the item, I am sure that I can repair it for you. I am still young, but my skills are more than sufficient for repairs. I am the apprentice of the proprietress of this place."

The Immortal looked relieved, and handed Meisje a tattered black dress.

A moment ago, it was most likely covered in blood, but the System cleaned items when you put them through your inventory, unless you didn’t want it to.

"Oh, this took a lot of damage. Alright, we can fix that. Priestess, can you give her a touch of healing while she waits?"

The counter clerk smiled as she watched the young mage settle into her assigned role.

It was good to have competent people.

The Immortal looked shocked when the healing spell washed over her, taking away all the lingering damage, as well as some of the old injuries that she had struggled to find a potion that could cleanse.

"Meisje will be just a moment, would you like to see some of our alternate options? We have a fine selection of black dresses upstairs," the clerk offered.

The Immortal did a double take as a silk clad wood elf came down the stairs to escort her.

This place was too strange, and she got the feeling that there were only three living people here, while the others were something else. Not quite undead, perhaps constructs? Summoned beings on a high enough level felt different from truly living people, as the soul was synthetic, and lacked that spark of divinity that others had.

"Of course. I could always use a spare dress."

Rae followed them upstairs to ensure that the sales manners of her staff were up to par, leaving Meisje to panic as she tried to use her skills for the first time.

[Mend Item] was a basic ability that came with the [Divine Tailoring] crafting skill, but she had never actually used it.

First, she laid the dress out on the counter, then flipped it over to check the back.

Fortunately, that was fine. All the damage was to the front.

So, she turned it back and activated the skill, then watched as the torn sections wove themselves back together. It wasn’t flawless, as there were some gemstone decorations missing that she didn’t have a replacement for. But other than that small flaw, nobody would ever know that the dress had been torn to shreds a few seconds ago.

"Here, I’ve got you covered. I will get Rae to give you the [Earth Manipulation] skill to make nonmagical gems and trim pieces." Opal whispered.

A second application of the spell had the dress back to perfection, with identically matched stones.
