With the Clan Leader’s assurance, Rue felt much more relaxed about the prospect of letting her goods make it outside the Guild.
In very limited quantities.
She also had gifts for Karl and the others. The weapons and items that she had made for them, but those could wait until after the ceremony so that it didn’t look like she was trying to embarrass the other Elders by showing up the gifts that they had brought to welcome the new Elders.
There were traditions for what gifts were given, she knew.
Ones that were valuable enough to be pleasantly accepted, and usually related to the skills or specialization of the Elder.
Ones who liked to go out hunting would bring hunting tools, ones who specialized in fire would gift a fire element resource, unless the new Elder was an Ice or Water element.
That sort of tradition.
Karl and Dana took the time to shower and change before they came out of their room on the third floor, and joined the Elders, who were currently enjoying the herbal tea that Remi had prepared for Rue.
It was designed to help revitalize mental focus and mana, a tonic for crafters.
But it was also pleasant tasting, unlike most alchemical concoctions.
If you added ingredients to improve the flavour, you ruined the potion at worst, diluted it at best. But this was just tea, it wasn’t meant to be strong.
Karl and Dana both came out in Fox form, and the Elders began to laugh as they stepped into the room.
"It has happened! The Green Dragons have corrupted the Karl, and he has joined team fluff," The Brewmaster laughed.
Karl wrapped half his tails around Dana. "I recently gained a new skill, and thought that it might be the most appropriate one that I had for formal outfits. It’s great, isn’t it?"
The Clan Elders shrugged. "We can’t say that it’s not a great skill. But is that the sort of skill that everyone can learn? I sense great advantages to being a Divine Fox." Elder Malcolm asked.
He was the sea trading Elder, and when most of his business was with rough and careful merchants, the subtle lure of [Fox Charm] could go a long way to getting him more favourable terms.
It might not be a large benefit, as everyone would be on guard against it. But even a small bonus to his negotiation skills would make the Clan a fantastic amount of profit every year.
Karl shrugged. "I will make a book for you later. It’s just a targeted form of [Beast Form] which is a common grade skill. You’re not likely to get the nine-tailed version that I did, but even an average Foxkin has a bit of charm."
Karl heard a few of the Elders complain about "Business Ethics", but Elder Malcolm shared no such qualms.
Before they could get sidetracked by Karl’s personal idiosyncrasies, Clan Leader Nerissa brought the topic back on track.
