Karl quickly swapped out his accessories for ones that added elemental damage on hit, and granted him extra health.
Between the two rings, two bracelets, amulet and earrings, which he usually didn’t wear, Karl managed to add 120 Percent of his base health pool, plus 1800 Percent of his base skill damage as fire, lightning and holy element damage combined.
Add his [Bestial Raiment] armour spell, so nothing got damaged, and he was ready for a proper fight.
The door burst open, and a moderately injured human Supreme, who appeared to be in his younger years, stumbled inside with a pair of police golems right behind him.
"I issue a Guild Challenge. Branch Leader to Branch Leader."
[BOO this man! Boo!] Rae complained.
[You’re still allowed to kill them while we duel, right?]
[No, the system says it’s against the rules. Plus, there are spectators coming.]
Karl sighed. "Fine, if you want a duel, then we can duel. It’s not really my specialty, but I’m sure that I can find someone to wash the filth off the bottom of my boots after the fight."
One of the customers snickered as he heard the insult, while the Branch Leader looked ready to explode.
"Where are my Elders?"
"You were too slow. I gave them to the Priestesses to interrogate. Good luck getting them back intact. But should that really be your concern? If you ask nicely, there is still a chance that I will leave you alive after the duel," Karl offered.
The absolute gall of this man was enough to shock the Supreme into silence.
Was he not supposed to be the one here issuing threats? And why was the Branch Leader not the Supreme who had activated the Gargoyles outside? Was it just an ancestral formation that they were relying on for defence?
He had been assured when he came here that they would be able to lure out the war criminal hiding in the region if they started attacking the newly formed Guilds first.
She had to be here somewhere, the League had assured him it was true.
Plus, the seer had assured them that the blind Elf known as "Girl" was here, and the Clan Leader wanted her for her Soul Sight abilities. The girl would make a wonderful guardian with her ability to see the invisible.
All she needed was a bit of training.
Still, the point of this wasn’t to start some unnecessary war, it was to find the war criminal the Valalan League had been hunting for. He had been paid well to come start trouble here, intending to flush her out.
But that didn’t mean this much trouble.
Whatever.
Once he finished with this upstart Immortal, he would sell the land back to one of the local Clans, and make a profit off it. Perhaps he could even still complete the mission while he was here?
Karl made a grand gesture toward the door.
