Chapter 1987: Return To Complete

Karl went from the Trial ground directly back to his room in the Tiny World.

That was the most secure place that he could think of for the advancement to complete, and if he opened the portal a little, he could still safely suck in mana from both the Guild House area and the apartment in the New Home Merchant Clan’s compound.

Not that he expected to need more mana just to finish a physical advancement.

The moment that he landed in bed, Karl’s clothing automatically unequipped itself and returned to storage, while his body returned to its natural human form before beginning to twist and deform. The change this time was not just a small one, or a matter of durability, his whole body was being remade.

Dana was going to join him, for moral support, but the System had erected a barrier, and she couldn’t enter the bedroom.

She could feel something strange through their soul bond, a definite imbalance, but it wasn’t trying to balance itself yet. That definitely wasn’t normal, as they were no longer in the trial, they were back in the Tiny World, and the Soul Bond should balance them nearly immediately.

Even if it wasn’t an instant balance, there should be a transfer process.

But there was nothing, and the longer that she felt that strange sense of otherness through the bond from the opposite side of the barrier, the more concerned she became.

As for Karl, he was deep in meditation, trying to focus on keeping conscious through the changes that were happening to his body, while resisting the urge to open his eyes and watch the process firsthand.

What he could see with his eyes was much less than what he could sense in total, and focusing on what they told him would distract him from the larger process.

The difference between an Epic Grade constitution and a Peerless Grade one was far larger than he had expected, and Karl was becoming increasingly certain that he was no longer the same species that he had been a day ago.

That was how completely his body had changed.

But he was keeping his eyes closed to focus on how it changed so that he could more thoroughly understand what else might need to be done to optimize himself for the Supreme Rank.

He could feel that he was still far short of the peak of Immortality, but with the change in his body, that distinction was mostly semantics.

The only thing he was missing was the Blessing of Supremacy, which would reduce damage done to him by Immortals by 99 Percent.

Even without the bonus damage reduction, he was already strong enough that most things couldn’t hurt him, and the changes to his physique were likely to increase his durability by an obscene degree.

Compared to a normal constitution, an Epic Grade version was like a dungeon boss, with ten times the durability that would normally be expected.

But he had never seen a Peerless Grade dungeon boss before.

So, there was no telling if the change would be a simple doubling or much more. However, going by the bonuses that weapons and accessories got at the Peerless Grade, it was likely to be substantial.

After nearly an hour of constant change, the process appeared to have finished, and Karl rose to his feet, stretching his body to check for anything that felt wrong.

That didn’t take long to find.
