[Mika: This is way too expensive, but the manager was so insistent.]
[Mika: I don't have the cash to pay you back. When are you free so I can return the card to you?]
When Lucas received Mika's texts, he was leaning over a billiards table, entirely focused on a red ball.
He pulled his arm back slightly and pushed his elbow forward with a smooth thrust.
The next second, the cue ball struck the red with pinpoint accuracy. A sharp clack echoed across the room as the red ball sank directly into the pocket, drawing cheers from Felix Finch and Leo Vance.
"Nice shot."
The young man gave a careless, sweeping smirk before pulling out his phone and glancing down.
Seeing it was a message from Mika, his cynical demeanor softened slightly. He strolled over to the lounge area and tossed his cue stick to Leo.
"Play a few rounds for me."
Leo grabbed the stick and continued the game against Quincy Lowen.
Lucas sank back into the black leather sofa, his long legs stretched out casually in front of him.
He looked down and typed.
[Lucas: I saw your post. Just a small token.]
[Lucas: Think of it as an apology to your mom for what happened last time.]
Seeing Mika was typing, Lucas quickly sent another text.
[Lucas: It's my mom's spa anyway, so it doesn't cost me a dime. If you keep rejecting it, I'll assume you don't want to be friends anymore.]
The typing bubble vanished for a moment.
After a long pause, a new message popped up on the screen.
[Mika: Alright... my mom says thank you. In that case, next time you're free, let me treat you to dinner?]
Lucas lowered his eyes, his sharp, striking gaze curving into a warm smile.
[Lucas: I'll treat you.]
[Mika: Didn't you just say friends shouldn't decline things? Then you can't refuse me either!]
