The Girl They Ignored Returned as the Woman Seven Men Would Die For novel Chapter 20

When he finally snapped out of it, Jude ruthlessly mocked himself in his own head.

He was losing his damn mind.

Seraphina, the most gorgeous girl at Hudson University, was right at his fingertips, yet he was actually getting flustered over Mika.

He deliberately forced a harsh scowl and yanked the car door open. "If this backfires, I'm going to make you pay."

With that, he climbed into the driver's seat and slammed the door shut with a deafening thud.

Mika didn't even flinch. She just smiled warmly at the dorm entrance.

What exactly was a best friend?

It was your closest confidant, the one person outside your family who understood your soul.

And Mika was entirely confident in her psychological profiling.

Moments later, Seraphina trotted out of the building. She waved at Jude and instinctually reached for the passenger side door handle.

But a second later, Jude's slightly rigid voice rang out from the driver's seat.

"Sorry, Seraphina. I want Mika sitting next to me."

Seraphina visibly froze, a flash of mortification crossing her delicate features. "Oh, my bad. It's just that I get terrible car sickness, so whenever we take a cab, Mika always lets me have the front seat..."

She took a subconscious step back, though her peripheral vision was laser-focused on Mika.

Knowing Mika's doormat personality, she should have immediately panicked, apologized profusely, and surrendered the passenger seat to Seraphina.

Yet this time, as Seraphina awkwardly backed away and reached for the rear door, Mika made absolutely zero move to stop her.

Instead, she casually brushed past her and gracefully slid into Jude's passenger seat.

"Sorry, Seraphina, but I really want to sit next to Jude. Just sit by the window in the back, you shouldn't get motion sickness there, right?"

"Oh, it's fine. Cracking the window should be okay..."

Seraphina forced a stiff, plastic smile as she climbed into the back, the seething resentment bubbling violently in her chest once again.

What was Mika's problem?

Why didn't she bend the knee this time?

Was she trying to establish dominance?

Was that really necessary? It wasn't like Seraphina even wanted Jude anyway!

The SUV rumbled to life, the rearview mirror perfectly capturing the tempestuous storm brewing on Seraphina's face.
