The Girl They Ignored Returned as the Woman Seven Men Would Die For novel Chapter 31

"Come to think of it, I think I've heard about her,"

Felix Finch said, rubbing his chin as he recalled the rumors. "The belle of Hudson University, Seraphina Sutton, has an ugly best friend. Dark-skinned, overweight, and completely hideous.

They say just looking at her ruins your appetite for three days... You don't think she's the one who saved Lucas, do you?"

"Hahahaha!" Leo Vance burst into a fit of laughter.

"No wonder he wouldn't give us a straight answer when we asked if the girl was pretty! Turns out he was saved by an ugly chick. I actually feel a little sorry for him now!"

That word, "ugly," repeated over and over, struck Lucas Lancaster's chest like a barrage of invisible needles.

The image of the girl struggling to carry him, her face drenched in sweat as she took each grueling step down the mountain, resurfaced in his mind.

A dangerous, predatory gleam flared in his already unwelcoming gaze.

Leo chuckled for a moment longer before a sudden chill crept down his spine.

He turned his head, only to find Lucas staring at him with dark, utterly humorless eyes.

"Lucas?" Leo asked, his voice wavering as he quickly dropped his playful demeanor.

"She's not ugly," Lucas stated, each word laced with a cold, suffocating pressure.

"If you don't know how to speak respectfully, get the hell out."

Though they were friends, the family backgrounds of the other three paled in comparison to the Lancaster dynasty.

When Lucas was serious, no one dared to cross him.

Leo stepped back awkwardly, muttering an excuse to save face.

"Hey, I didn't mean it like that. That's just what the guys on the campus forum are saying..."

"She saved his life. No matter what, we owe the girl our respect."

Noticing the shift in tension, Quincy Lowen smoothly intervened with a smile, resting a reassuring hand on Lucas's shoulder.

"Just focus on resting up in the hospital for the next few days. When you're discharged, I'll put together a party to celebrate your survival.

We'll invite Mika and give her a proper thank you. How does that sound?"

Lucas's gaze shifted slightly at the suggestion. He turned his head away, his tone indifferent.
