As evening approached, the sky turned a serene pale blue. The moon peeked through the branches, and the mouth-watering aroma of dinner drifted through the residential building.

"Mrs. Remington, dinner's ready!"

Mika, wearing an apron, carried a dish of tender, honey-glazed pork with potatoes to the dining table.

Mrs. Remington walked over from the television, looking at the beautifully presented dish with admiration.

"Well done, sweetheart. This looks like it came straight out of a restaurant."

"There's more in the kitchen."

Mika ducked back into the kitchen, quickly bringing out a savory baked frittata, pan-seared sea bass, roasted spring vegetables, and a creamy tomato bisque.

In no time, the table was completely filled. Mika took off her apron and introduced the food with a bright smile.

"I wasn't sure what you liked, so I made two rich dishes and two lighter ones.

For the glazed pork, I specifically chose lean center-cut meat with less fat, so it's a bit healthier."

"Wonderful, wonderful." Mrs. Remington beamed and immediately called out to Julian, who was still out in the yard soaking in the moonlight.

"Jules, time to eat! Come see what a fantastic cook Mika is!"

Julian wheeled himself inside with a blank expression, his gaze pausing on the dining table.

But then Julian remembered Mika's true motive for moving in, and a flicker of suspicion returned to his deep, striking eyes.

This woman was probably just playing the victim to win his grandmother's sympathy, right?

And so, a sarcastic, out-of-place voice shattered the warm atmosphere at the table.

"If your family's financial situation is so dire, why are you moving out of a cheap dorm to spend thousands a month renting a room from my grandmother? Isn't that adding to your family's burden?"

Mika turned her head, only to see Julian holding his bowl, a bright, seemingly innocent smile on his handsome face.

"A little bit, but I work part-time, which pretty much covers it." Mika didn't shy away from his malicious smile.

"After all, it's to create a better environment for my studies. If I get into grad school, it'll be a worthy investment in myself."

With that, Mika turned her sweet gaze back to Leona. "I also have to thank you, Mrs. Remington. Charging me such low rent for such a wonderful place.

Whenever I have free time, I'll make sure to cook for you like this!"
