After leaving the room, Finnegan did not train his arm as Alisha had wondered.
Instead, he arrived at the rooftop of the hotel where the wind was howling.
The wind rustled his clothes and whipped his hair, and he slowly calmed down.
“Come out!”
He had left the room not because of Alisha, but because he had sensed a familiar presence.
A person emerged from behind the elevator machine room on one side.
It was the same cloaked figure who had previously delivered the South-North Badge of the Martial Arts Alliance to Finnegan.
As he approached, he made to kneel on one knee.
Finnegan raised his hand. “Enough with this nonsense. Now tell me, why have you brought me here? When did you come back to Nuthana?”
The man in the black robe replied, “I arrived in Capston yesterday afternoon. It's my master's idea to bring you up here. He knows you're in Capston, and so he hopes you can do him a small favor.”
Finnegan narrowed his eyes. “Does your master still need my help?”
Apart from him as his sole disciple, Sawyer also had three other students.
Each one was at the absolute peak in their respective fields, holding a prominent position in Loang.
It could be said that they were only required for others to seek them out for tasks. They had no need to request anything from anyone.
The man in the black robe said, “He hopes that you will step in to quell the chaos in the Martial Arts Alliance.”
Ever since Oswald and the Farrington family fell from grace, the position of the president of the Martial Arts Alliance had remained vacant, stirring up ulterior motives in many.
After all, taking over the Martial Arts Alliance was tantamount to indirectly controlling the material rights of the eight southern regions of the Martial Arts Alliance, with over a hundred billion in capital flow.
It wasn't just within the Martial Arts Alliance that things were happening. Even in the Durbaine headquarters, people were stirring up trouble, causing significant internal losses.
Finnegan pursed his lips. “That's it? Why didn't your master just appoint a president directly? Wouldn't that have settled everything?”
The man in the black robe gave a bitter smile. “The downfall of the Farrington family has led many to criticize my master. He found it inappropriate to interfere further. So, even though he secretly sent me here, he instructed me not to get involved. All I need to do is ensure that the chaos doesn't escalate.”
Finnegan snorted. “The chaos in the Martial Arts Alliance was caused by me, and just because I happened to be in Capston, your master wants to pin the blame on me?”
“Mr. Larkin, please calm down. Master said if you are unwilling, then just pretend he never spoke.”
Finnegan's face softened, and he turned around. “I understand, but I need some time to think about it.”
Interfering in the affairs of the Martial Arts Alliance would certainly offend people. He had to weigh the pros and cons.
The man in the black robe said, “I'll wait for your response, then!”
When Finnegan returned to the suite, Alisha was found still lounging in the living room in a particularly alluring position.
Upon seeing him return, Alisha teased with a playful smile, “Darling, you managed to finish in just over ten minutes? If that's the case, you might need to practice more. Yours truly can't be satisfied with anything less than half an hour, you know.”
Muttering a curse under his breath, Finnegan acted as if he hadn't heard anything. “Have you prepared the gifts I asked you to get for Bernie's granny and the rest?”
Glancing at Finnegan, Alisha replied, “Everything will be in place by tomorrow. But aren't you a bit too much? How could you get me to—”
Finnegan didn't wait for Alisha to finish speaking. He turned around and entered the room. “Just have someone deliver the items directly when I go over tomorrow. I'm going to rest now.”
He promptly closed the door with a swift backhand movement, even taking the extra step to lock it immediately.
Alisha was stunned for three seconds.
After regaining her senses, she quickly stood up. “Are you even a man? Do I need to resort to using drugs on you?”
The more she thought about it, the angrier she became. She stomped her foot on the spot. “What a jerk!”
The next morning, Finnegan received a call from Bernice. “When will you be coming over? There's a celebration at my granny's house today. We're having lunch at a hotel. You should come over earlier to meet my granny and the others.”
Fortunately, he could head there straight using the subway, so he dismissed the idea of taking a taxi and headed toward the subway station.
Although there were fewer people on Saturdays than on weekdays, there were still quite a few people.
Finnegan had to walk through two train carriages before he spotted an empty seat.
Just as he was about to sit down, a fair-skinned man devoid of any masculine aura pushed him aside from behind. “Mom, there's a seat here. You can sit.”
Finnegan furrowed his brow as he looked over.
Upon seeing that the seat was given to his mother, he couldn't really say anything. He stepped aside and leaned against the handrail.
Upon observing the countenances of the mother and son, Finnegan let out a quiet sigh.
What an odd mother and son duo!
The woman, with her somewhat sharp features and shiny forehead, sat down and patted her thigh. “Son, don't tire yourself standing. Come sit on my lap.”
The fair-skinned man actually sat on his mother's lap, and then the middle-aged woman held him, just as a young mother would cradle a two or three-year-old child.
Finnegan's lips quivered intensely as if his entire perspective had been profoundly disrupted.
The passengers in the same carriage also widened their eyes, whispering among themselves.
However, this mother and son pair completely ignored it.
The middle-aged woman patted the fair-skinned man's thigh and said, “Son, when you got engaged, their family promised to buy you two a house for your marriage in the city area, right?”
The fair-skinned man seemed completely oblivious to the mocking gazes of those around him.
Nodding, he said, “Yes, and they paid it in full. It cost around three million.”
The middle-aged woman said, “You really know how to choose a wife. Our family can save quite a bit of money this way. But you'll need to find a way to add your name to the house deed. It would be best if it's registered under your name alone!”
