The Healing Avenger novel Chapter 364

As midnight approached in Jadeborough, Dragon Bay No. 1 Villa was tranquil, completely unaffected by the turmoil of the outside world.

“Finnegan!” Inside the bedroom, Bernice suddenly sat up, her eyes wide open.

“Darling, I'm here.” Finnegan, who had dealt with the Kieran situation and rushed back to Jadeborough with Bernice, hurried over. He tightly held Bernice's hand. “Don't be afraid. I'm with you.”

Bernice embraced him tightly. “Finnegan!”

Knowing that she was frightened earlier that day, Finnegan patted her back comfortingly and said, “It's my fault for not protecting you well. Everything is fine now!”

Bernice lifted her head. “Don't blame yourself. It was my decision to stroll around quietly with Nickie without bringing any bodyguards. But what happened? How did we get back here?”

Gently stroking Bernice's hair, Finnegan reassured her, “It's all right now. The person who took you has received his due punishment and won't cause any more trouble. As for your injuries, I've told Nicolette and your parents that we had to return early due to some matters, so they wouldn't worry!”

“Is everything really all right? That person seemed to have a significant influence in the Martial Arts Alliance!”

Finnegan confidently replied, “Indeed, he had some connections, but he's already dead, and his family has been dealt with by the Martial Arts Alliance. There won't be any more trouble!”

There were certain things that Bernice couldn't be kept in the dark about. If she decided to investigate, she would be able to uncover at least some information.

Therefore, Finnegan chose to tell her to prevent her from investigating further.

Upon hearing this, Bernice gripped Finnegan's hand anxiously. “You didn't kill him, did you?”

To avoid frightening Bernice, Finnegan certainly wouldn't admit it. “Absolutely not. That was an order from Walter, the president of the Martial Arts Alliance. It's their own family that has issues. You just happened to encounter it today!”

Under normal circumstances, Bernice would have definitely noticed that Finnegan wasn't telling the truth.

But at that moment, there wasn't a shred of doubt. “It's good that no one will seek revenge.”

After a pause, he let go of Finnegan and looked at herself. Her cheeks were slightly flushed as she asked, “Are my injuries all healed?”

“Your hubby's medical skills are extraordinary. I certainly couldn't let you be injured!”

“Did you change my pajamas?”

Finnegan nodded. “Of course, I also gave you a bath while I was at it.”

Upon hearing this, Bernice's face flushed red. She raised her hand and punched Finnegan. “Meanie! How could you take advantage of someone when they've fainted? You're so mean!”

With a smile, Finnegan pinched Bernice's cheek gently. “I'm your husband. Even if I were to take advantage of you while you were asleep, it would be normal. But now, it's just—”

“What? Get out! Get out!”

With a smile, Finnegan rose to his feet, knowing that Bernice was feeling better. “All right. I'll go and prepare some food for you. You haven't eaten anything until now.”

Once Finnegan had left the bedroom, Bernice cradled her face, which was so flushed it almost seemed to be bleeding. “Has this meanie already taken advantage of me?”

Naturally, Finnegan had no idea what Bernice was thinking. He went downstairs to the kitchen, ready to prepare something for her to eat.

However, a phone call suddenly came in.

The call came from Reynard.

Glancing back to ensure he was alone, Finnegan picked up the call while simultaneously handling the ingredients. “Any good news?” he asked.

“There's no good news, I'm afraid.” Reynard said with a bitter smile, “I just wanted to inform you that the events that transpired within the Martial Arts Alliance tonight have shaken many, including Hank.”

Finnegan smirked when he heard that. “So he has guessed it, huh? There's no hiding this matter, anyway!” he said. When Oswald came to cause trouble, so many people saw me present the Martial Arts Alliance's South-North Badge. In Capston, so many people have seen me. Even with the utmost caution, there would always be some oversights. An ordinary person wouldn't be able to find out, but for Hank, who hailed from one of the Five Great Families and was reputed as the most promising youngster of Durbaine, it wasn't difficult to uncover.

Brutus hurriedly arrived at the back, standing at a distance, careful not to disturb his training.

After waiting for half an hour, he approached Hank. “Mr. Weatherby, the latest information on Finnegan that you asked me to look into is all here,” he said, handing over the documents to Hank.

However, Hank didn't take it. Instead, he took the towel handed over by the housekeeper. “Speak!”

Brutus nodded, his voice laced with complexity. “Just as you speculated, he truly is the president's commissary. When Oswald previously sought trouble with him, Oswald was suppressed by the Martial Arts Alliance' South-North Badge. As for the reason he became the commissary, it was because he once saved Mr. Walter Jenkins, earning him the promise of three uses of the Martial Arts Alliance's South-North Badge!”

Hank slightly lifted his eyelids.

After handing the towel to the housekeeper, he took hold of the documents.

After reading, he flashed a smile. “In just a short time of not paying attention to him, he has already grown to this extent. Even the Sable family's Regi Group has been taken over by him. Truly, he is the undisputed number one among the younger generation in Nuthana! However, you ought to investigate the Martial Arts Alliance's South-North Badge thoroughly.”

Brutus asked, “Mr. Weatherby, is there a problem?”

Hank handed the documents back to Brutus. “The reason he was named as the president's commissary seems plausible on the surface, but upon deeper consideration, it makes no sense at all.”

He paused for a moment, then made an analogy by saying, “In other words, if you were Finnegan, what would you do with the Martial Arts Alliance' South-North Badge, which you obtained in return for a life-saving favor?”

Brutus hardly hesitated. He responded, “I would only use the Martial Arts Alliance's South-North Badge for my own benefit, utilizing the three opportunities at critical moments, and perhaps, I might never use them in my entire life!”

As long as it wasn't used, one could always carry the title of a special envoy that would inevitably grow in stature.

No one in Loang would dare to provoke someone like that.

Hank pointed to the documents in his hand. “What did Finnegan do?”
