Since Wendy had made her decision clear, everyone naturally respected it.

“Alright.”

Wendy left the hospital. Halsey, accompanied by Madeline, came over to say goodbye. “I’ll take Maddy home first. We’ll catch up again soon.”

Wendy nodded. “Okay.”

Madeline waved. “Bye, Wendy.”

Wendy smiled gently. “Bye.”

Halsey and Madeline headed home together. As they walked, Halsey asked, “Maddy, after seeing what Wendy is going through, how do you feel about it?”

Madeline thought for a moment. “Her love life sure has been rocky Is love always like this?”

She had never been in a relationship herself, and was curious.

Halsey thought back to her own time with Dwight. Love was a mix of sweetness and heartbreak, laughter and tears. Still, she didn’t want to scare Madeline or make her afraid of love.

With a soft smile, Halsey said, “It really depends on the person, but I’m sure you’ll find someone who truly understands and loves you, someone to walk beside you through life’s ups and downs.”

Madeline smiled faintly, clearly uninterested. “Nah, I think I’m more suited for science. Research is more my thing.”

Halsey chuckled. Madeline was the perfect example of a science–minded girl; she was more interested in numbers and experiments than in matters of the heart.

Grabbing Madeline’s hand, Halsey said, “You’re grown up now. You should enjoy your youth a little. Come on, I’m going to show you a good time.”

Madeline raised an eyebrow. “Where are we going?”

Halsey gave her a mysterious smile. “You’ll see when we get there!

Half an hour later, Halsey dragged Madeline to the entrance of a bar.

Madeline blinked in surprise. “You brought me to a bar?”

“That’s right,” Halsey said with a grin. “You’ve never been to a bar before, right? Tonight, I’m taking you to experience it firsthand. Let’s go have a drink.”

Halsey led Madeline inside.

Over the past three years, Halsey had truly treated Madeline like her own little sister. She had been deeply involved in Madeline’s studies and work. Now that Madeline was older, Halsey had started worrying about Madeline’s love life, too.

The two of them settled at the bar. Tonight, the place was buzzing with energy. Heavy metal music blasted through the speakers, and the dance floor was alive with wild, swirling bodies.

“What do you want to drink?” Halsey asked.

“Fruit juice,” Madeline replied.

Halsey laughed. “No juice in a bar. How about a blue cocktail instead?”

Soon, two blue cocktails arrived. Both of them relaxed, sipping their drinks.
