Shaun looked at her beautiful face.

Halsey buried her face against his neck. “You’re such an idiot.”

Shaun held her tightly. “It’s all in the past now.”

Halsey looked up at him. “Then what happened to your face? And if that marriage was fake… Why didn’t you come find me these last three years?”

At the mention of his face, Shaun’s eyes turned cold. “You really don’t know what happened to me?”

Halsey froze. “What do you mean? I don’t understand.”

Shaun pressed his lips together but didn’t answer.

Halsey grew anxious. “Why won’t you say anything? What happened to your face? What-”

Just then, a soft ringtone broke through the air. Her phone started ringing. She glanced down and saw the name on the screen–Gilbert.

Gilbert was calling her.

Shaun saw it too. “Gilbert’s calling you.”

Halsey picked up and answered. Gilbert’s voice came through immediately.

“Where are you right now? I want to see you!” he demanded.

Halsey frowned. “Why are you calling me this late at night–mmph!”

Shaun leaned in and kissed her before she could finish, silencing her.

Halsey’s eyes widened in shock. The next second, everything spun as Shaun lowered her onto the seat and leaned over her.

She reached out to push him away. “Stop… I’m on the phone with Gilbert…”

Shaun just smirked. “Then go ahead. Keep talking.”

And he started kissing her again.

The way he kissed made it impossible for her to say anything, and this time, he wasn’t being gentle. It actually hurt.

“Take it easy… You’re hurting me…”

Shaun moved to her ear and murmured, “Does it hurt? Good. I want to leave my mark on you. I want you to belong to me.”

Halsey felt a rush of sweetness in her chest. She already was his, always had been.
