Chapter 913

Halsey winced in pain, her brows furrowing.

Shaun hovered over her, his lips brushing against her earlobe as he murmured, “This is

your punishment.”

In response, she sank her teeth into his shoulder.

A dangerous glint flickered in Shaun’s eyes as he pinned her wrists down, ignoring her

resistance.

Halsey didn’t understand how they had ended up like this again-two people who were

supposed to be over, tangled together as if nothing had changed.

And he had just come back from a date with Geneva.

Her body ached, a dull throb reminding her of the fragile life inside her. The first trimester was too risky for this. “Slow down-you’re hurting me!”

Shaun wasn’t in the mood to be gentle. Not after the games she had played with him. The entire ride home, he had been planning this retribution.

“Then endure it,” he growled, his voice rough.

Halsey’s delicate features twisted in discomfort. “Please-I’m serious. Stop.”

He ignored her at first, but the growing pallor of her face gave him pause. Gripping her chin, he studied her. “Where does it hurt?”

“My stomach,” she admitted.

Shaun’s gaze dropped to her flat abdomen. “Liar. Why would your stomach hurt?”

“I’m telling the truth. I—”

She wanted to tell him she was pregnant, but she bit back the words. It wasn’t time yet.

Chapter 913

Shaun’s fingers traced her waistline. “What’s wrong with your stomach?”

Then it hit him.

A flicker of realization crossed his face. “Your stomach…”

Did he know?

Panicked, Halsey covered herself. “It’s nothing!”

Shaun frowned. “Have you gained weight?”

She nearly choked. Seriously? Was that his conclusion?

“You’ve gained weight!” she snapped. “I’m the same as always!”

The indignation in her voice made him smirk. So much for not going easy on her—he

couldn’t help but soften.

“Fine,” he relented, loosening his grip. “I’ll be gentler.”

“No, let me go!”

“Halsey,” he warned, “I’m already compromising. If you’d rather I not hold back—”

“Okay, okay!” she yelped. “Just…don’t hurt me.”

Shaun’s smirk deepened. “That’s what I thought.”
