The Heartbroken Luna's Choice Banish Love novel Chapter 118

Chapter 118

Third Person’s POV

Samantha played her cards right, getting out of the car immediately without lingering a second longer. She knew better than to push Cassian’s boundaries when he was already on edge.

As the car door slammed shut and Cassian sped off, Samantha stood by the curb, watching his taillights fade. A slow, triumphant smirk crept onto her face.

As long as Algernon existed, Cassian would be constantly reminded of how much she had sacrificedfor him.

She didn’t need him to make a choice right this second; she just needed to keep that thorn embedded in his side so he could never truly walk away.

Nearby, Fred was leaning against the hood of his sports car. He pulled off his sunglasses, his disgust plain as day. You can play all the mind games you want, but you’re never going to be an Ironthorn. Do yourself a favor and quit while you’re behind.”

Samantha scanned the area, making sure Cassian was long gone before she strolled over to Fred.

She forced a polite smile. Fred, we’ve known each other for years. Why are you always so hostile toward me?

Fred threw his hands up, his tone lazy but biting. I’m not being hostile. I just have a low tolerance for people who make my skin crawl.”

Samantha’s face twisted for a split second.

But Fred was Cassian’s best friend and a heavyhitting alpha in his own right; she didn’t dare challenge him directly. She quickly rearranged her face into a mask of grievance.

Fred, I get it,she said softly. You and Ms. Holmes grew up together. You’re protective of her

Fred cut her off, his voice cold and precise. Cassian and Trista aren’t terminated yet. Calling her Ms. Holmesmakes it sound like you’re in a real hurry to kick her out of her seat.”

Samantha’s expression darkened briefly before she suppressed it again. Fred, Cassian and I have a child together. Is it a crime for a kid to want to see his father?

Fred snorted. Is it the kid who wants to see him, or you?

Caught out, Samantha’s eyes flickered, but she pivoted fast. I really did just happen to be

passing by. I’m not forcing Cassian to terminate, and I’ve never tried to destroy his mating. Cassian is looking after us out of responsibility. No one is at fault hereit’s just a cruel twist of fate

Fred had heard enough. His voice was blunt and weary. Right or wrong, you’re the other

woman. Period.

He stared her down, every word meant to sting. You and that kid? Not a single Ironthorn elder acknowledges you. Cassian hasn’t filed for termination for your sake yet either. Haven’t you figured out where his head is at?

That hit Samantha right where it hurt.

She gritted her teeth, her tone hardening. Fred, feelings are unpredictable. Isn’t it a little early to be making calls like that?

Fred smirked, as if listening to some delusional fantasy. You’ve been reading too many of those cheap Alpha CEOromance novels.

Samantha’s face grew even uglier. What the hell is that supposed to mean?

Fred didn’t hold back, his voice as sharp as a blade. I mean, look at you. You’re ordinary in every way, you’ve got zero real talent, but you’ve got an ego the size of a mountain. Isn’t that the perfect recipe for a pipe dream?

Standing there in front of Fred, Samantha felt like a joke being stripped bare in public.

She dug her nails into her palms, using the pain to keep herself upright.

Fred, Cassian and I are different, she insisted, her voice wavering. We have a real connection.

No matter how she dressed or how much she tried to act refined,” she always felt a step behin when facing people in Cassian’s inner circle.

That gap wasn’t something clothes or makeup could fix; it was baked into the bloodlines, the packs, and the deepseated hierarchy of power.

She hated that feeling, and she hated that she couldn’t hide it.

Fred offered a friendlyreminder, though it sounded more like he was peeling off her fake skin. Samantha, I’ll give it to you straight. Back when Cassian was kidnapped, you got hurt saving him. He had a million other shewolves to choose from, but he dated you because that incident put a halo over your head.”

Samantha’s eyes darted around.

She opened her mouth, but nothing came out.
