The Heartbroken Luna's Choice Banish Love novel Chapter 156

Chapter 156
Trista’s POV

His pheromones drifted through the air, traveling along the fractured mating bond and seeping into my body, hitting my wolf head–on.

My breathing hitched.

I felt a slight tug on the bond, and a long–lost sense of “repair” began to spread through my bones.

It wasn’t violent, but it was undeniable–like parched earth finally being soaked by rain. It caught my wolf off guard, waking her up, making her instinctively want to crawl closer, to respond.

My body froze before my mind could react.

“Don’t…”

The protest was a whisper, and it lacked the conviction I’d started with.

Cassian felt my hesitation.

He leaned in closer, his head dipping toward the side of my neck.

His breath brushed against my skin, slow and disciplined, carrying pheromones he’d intentionally softened. It was as if he were checking my vitals, patiently waiting for my wolf to be the first to surrender.

The bond yanked again.

In that instant, my wolf’s rhythm was shattered.

A familiar sense of connection radiated from my scent gland; the instinct to heal and a lingering sense of dependency tangled together, sending my consciousness into a tailspin.

I was fighting him, yet I couldn’t cut off the response.

His hand settled on my waist.

He wasn’t rushed. He just let his palm follow the curve of my body, his heat soaking through the silk and into my skin.

I felt my wolf shiver almost immediately–a tiny, visceral tremor, like a nerve being plucked.

I ground my teeth, my fingertips digging into the vanity.

He let out a low, shaky breath.

I looked up and met his eyes.

Cassian’s pupils were shifting.

The disciplined human color was being bled away, the edges tightening and elongating into the vertical slits of a wolf.

He stared at me, his gaze dark and heavy, like he was fighting to keep something back while knowing full well that I could feel exactly what it was.

His thumb brushed against my waist.

Just once.

But it was enough to make me shudder.

My wolf gave him the answer he wanted instantly, and Cassian’s gaze darkened even further.

He leaned down and kissed me.

That was the key. One turn, and the entire mating bond was engaged.

My wolf let out a low, responsive whine before I could even try to stop it.

His lips slid along the corner of my mouth, trailing down to my jaw.

Our breaths Tangled, and my wolf continued to tremble under that slow touch, pushed closer and closer to the edge.
