Chapter 191
Third Person’s POV
Trista didn’t even flinch.
She tilted her head back, meeting Cassian’s eyes–gold orbs that looked like they’d frozen over. “What die you expect? Did you honestly think you could screw her over and break her heart, then expect me to go back to the way I was? Just some devoted little mate waiting for her high–and–mighty Alpha to come home
Cassian stared at her. For a split second, his focus shattered. It was like a grenade had gone off in his head, blowing apart the arrogant lie that he was still in control.
He could feel their mating bond–that invisible cord between their chests–snapping taut. A suffocating weight settled in his lungs.
It took forever for him to find his voice. When he finally spoke, it was a low, wrecked growl Trista… Im giving you one last chance to take that back. Are you telling me… you’ve actually purged every last bit of love for me?”
Their eyes locked.
Trista’s gaze was as cold as a grave.
“I, Trista,” she said, her voice a flatline, “in this life, the next, and every goddamn cycle after that…. will never give you a single shred of my heart ever again. Not even a spark, Cassian. It’s over.”
Cassian’s grip on her shoulders slowly loosened.
He straightened up and stepped back, his expression hardening into a mask of ice.
He pulled his arrogance back on like a suit of armor, his voice devoid of any warmth. “Fine. Your love wasn’t exactly a priority for me anyway.”
Trista didn’t blink. A faint, mocking smirk touched her lips. “Don’t bother reminding me. I’ve always known that better than anyone.”
She knew exactly where Samantha was branded into his heart.
Suddenly, Cassian spun around, grabbed a heavy contract and a stack of files off the nightstand, and hurled them at her. They hit the bed with a dull thud.
His face was dark. “Originally, I drafted this just to keep up appearances for the Ironthorn Luna. I never planned to actually use these old–world laws to cage you. But you just changed my mind.”
“Starting right now, you follow the rules to the letter. Your hours at the research center are your own, but every other second belongs to this villa. By 10:00 PM every night, your scent better be in this bedroom. No arguments. No exceptions.”
Trista snatched the contract and slammed it onto the floor. She stood before him barefoot, looking him dead in the eye, completely unafraid. “The agreement said nothing about me giving you a 24/7 play–by–play of my life!”

Chapter 101
Cassian’s eyes went dark bottomless, predatory void. His tone was disturbingly calde the soul of an Alpha crushing a subordinate. “Trista, in this territory, I am the law. You have zero statzung and Zero leverage to negotiate with me. Get that through your head”
The wolf inside Trista snarled, her voice rising. “Cassian, don’t you dare push me!
A cruel, jagged smile cut across Cassian’s face,
“I have a dozen ways to get you fired from that center,” he warned. “I can make in so you can’t even find a place to stand in all of L.A. Go ahead. Test ine.”
“You are a goddamn psychopath!”
In a flash of pure rage, Trista put everything she had into a slap.
The sound cracked through the silent room like a gunshot.
Cassian’s head snapped to the side. He used his tongue to poke the inside of his cheek, tasting blood. When he turned back, his eyes were flooded with lethal, primal heat.
Before she could breathe, his hand clamped around her wrist like a vice. He hauled her onto the bed with a violent jerk, looming over her like a mountain about to collapse.
The sheer, aggressive weight of his aura made Trista’s heart seize.
She struggled wildly, her hands shielding her chest. “Cassian! Stop! Don’t make me spend the rest of my life hating your guts!”
A messy, fractured look crossed Cassian’s eyes.
He leaned down, his teeth already beginning to shift–a sign of the beast taking over.
His voice was a shredded rasp. “Like I said… your hate doesn’t mean a damn thing to me either.”
His sanity snapped. Primal instinct took the wheel.
His fingers, sharpened by fury, pinned her shoulders into the mattress.
