The Heartbroken Luna's Choice Banish Love novel Chapter 284

Trista's POV

Samantha was the first to pick up my scent. Her ears twitched nervously—a dead giveaway of her guilt—and she quickly let go of Cassian's arm.

Cassian spun around on instinct. The second our eyes met, he shoved Samantha away like she was radioactive.

"Trista," he said, lunging toward me. His heavy pine scent hit me instantly.

He reached for my hand, but my senses caught the "pollution" on him first.

I backed away, not even trying to hide the revulsion on my face. "You smell like her. It's disgusting. Don't touch me."

Cassian froze. It was a direct, visceral rejection from his mate. His hand dropped to his side, his fingers trembling.

Samantha caught the tremor in our bond and a flicker of triumph crossed her face.

She stepped forward, putting on a fake, submissive act. "I'm so sorry, Luna Trista. Please don't misunderstand. I just slipped in the rain, and Cassian was helping me up."

I just kept my eyes on Cassian, whose pupils were already shifting into a dark gold. "So this is your 'business dinner'? A private rendezvous with your ex in the middle of the city?"

Cassian was speechless.

He had lied to avoid a scene, never dreaming I'd catch him red-handed like this.

"Cassian, as your Luna, I've never once stopped you from seeing her, have I?"

A look of pure panic washed over his face—the primal cry of a wolf sensing he was about to lose his mate for good.

He tried to step into my space again, attempting to wrap me in his aura.

I snapped. "Stay back! You're covered in her pheromones. It makes me want to gag. Get away from me!"

Cassian looked like he'd been punched in the gut. His Alpha pride was crumbling in real-time.

Right there in front of me, he ripped off his blazer—the one Samantha had touched—and hurled it into the muddy street, trampling it as if it were an insult.

Samantha went pale, her lips quivering, unable to make a sound.

At that exact moment, he released a massive wave of Alpha aura—cold, arrogant, and incredibly aggressive. It slammed into Cassian's aura, shattering the suffocating hold he had over me.

The collision of two high-tier Alphas made the very air feel distorted.

While Cassian was distracted by the sudden challenge, I dove into Isaiah's passenger seat. "Isaiah, get me out of here! I can't breathe in this place!"

Isaiah let out a sharp, mocking laugh.

He looked over at Cassian, whose face was livid. It was a silent declaration of war—one apex predator challenging another for territory.

Isaiah's aura peaked, forming an invisible wall that kept Cassian pinned away from the car.

"Trista!"

Cassian's eyes flared a violent red. He roared, reaching out to tear the door open and drag me out, but Isaiah was already shifting gears. He slammed his foot on the gas.

The engine let out a deafening howl, and the car blurred into motion, vanishing into the rain a split second before Cassian's fingers could touch the door.
