The Heartbroken Luna's Choice Banish Love novel Chapter 307

Third Person's POV

Trista was in her office packing up.

Xander knocked and stepped in. "Your VIP list is backed out for months. Why are you taking a house call this afternoon?"

"Priscilla was a friend of my grandmother's," Trista said with a small smile. "Her wolf has been restless lately, and she's not sleeping well. I'm going over to help her stabilize."

Xander placed a file on her desk. "This one is from Europe; they land in L.A. next week. Get familiar with the case."

Trista gave him a thumbs up. "Your network is seriously impressive."

Since joining forces with Xander, she had connected with quite a few high-ranking werewolves.

Xander waved it off modestly. "Compared to the history of the Blade or Icepeak packs, it's nothing."

Once Xander left, Trista grabbed the medical files and headed out to the Shadowfang territory.

Evening, at the Ironthorn headquarters, Humphrey burst into the office, out of breath.

"Alpha Cassian, Howard has disconnected himself from the monitors. He's back home!"

Cassian snapped his head up.

Humphrey swallowed hard and forced himself to continue. "Luna Trista was intercepted on her way out. She and her parents were 'escorted' back to the mansion by Howard's men."

Cassian bolted upright. "Why am I just hearing this now?"

Howard sat in the high-backed chair at the head of the room, with Wilmot and Alaina flanking him.

Trista and the Randolphs stood in the center of the living room, surrounded by guards. The air was thick with a violent Alpha aura that made it hard to breathe.

"Randolph, you and the Silverlights owe us an explanation today!" Wilmot roared at Trista's father.

Knowing his daughter had lost the baby, Randolph was shaking with rage. He snapped back immediately. "Our brilliant daughter becomes your Luna, only to be driven to terminate her own child by your family's actions, and you have the nerve to ask us for an explanation?"

Howard's face was grim. He slammed his cane against the floor. "The moment she became the Ironthorn Luna, she became a member of this pack. Aborting an heir behind everyone's back? Is this how you raised her?"

Ulva gripped Trista's hand, her eyes red as she fought back. "Our daughter might not meet your standards, but she never begged to be here! If we're so unwelcome, we're taking her home!" She pulled Trista toward the door.

The guards immediately closed ranks, blocking their path.

Trista patted her mother's hand to calm her.

She stepped forward, looking Howard right in the eye. "Howard, with elders like you, it's no wonder Cassian is content playing daddy to a stranger's bastard. Your bloodline is so toxic it doesn't even deserve a real heir."

Howard nearly choked on his rage. He pointed at Trista, bellowing, "Guards! Take this woman to the dungeons until she learns some respect!"

"As long as the bond isn't broken, Trista is the Ironthorn Luna, and she follows Ironthorn's rules!" Howard roared from his chair.

Wilmot chimed in coldly, "You think you can just come and go as you please? You think the Ironthorn territory is a hotel?"

The words had barely left his mouth when Abbott pushed Alistair into the room.

The atmosphere shifted instantly.

Alistair lounged in his wheelchair, his black suit jacket open, idly flicking a lighter.

"Alpha Alistair." Trista pulled her parents behind him.

Alistair gave her arm a reassuring pat.

His narrow eyes swept the room, finally landing on Wilmot. His tone was dripping with sarcasm. "I heard the Ironthorn pack was the leader of L.A., but I didn't realize you were this barbaric toward your own members' families."

Wilmot met his gaze with a cold stare. "Alistair, this is an internal Ironthorn matter. You're overstepping."

Alistair let out a sharp, arrogant laugh. "I disagree. Miss Holmes is my primary healer. Ensuring her family's safety is a matter of my own survival."

A flash of lethality crossed Howard's clouded eyes. "Even so, you have no right to take anyone from under my roof."

"Fine, don't let them leave," Alistair arched an eyebrow. "Then I'll just stay here with them."
