The Heartbroken Luna's Choice Banish Love novel Chapter 68

Chapter 68

Third Person’s POV

Cassian took Samantha upstairs immediately.

The housemaid rushed over, kneeling with a healing spray, tending to the scrape on Samantha’s knee.

Samantha sat on the sofa, still sobbing hysterically, buried in the cushions. Cassian, I never thought Luna Trista would track me down here. She said this place is community property and told me to move out and give it back.

She sniffled, tightening her grip on his cuff. No matter what I said, Luna Trista just wouldn’t believe me. She called me a homewrecker and swore she’d never break the mating. She said she’d make sure Algernon carried the illegitimatelabel forever

Her voice faded, a weak, victimized defense. I just wanted to explain, to say you and I were in the past and I’m only here for the baby. She wouldn’t listen and she hit me. She threatened to make me and my son vanish from your life completely

Cassian’s gaze was drifting.

He was seeing Trista’s face just before the slap in the courtyard, that cornered, cold intensity in her eyes.

Samantha sensed his distraction.

She stood up, pulling on his arm, tears streaming down her face. Cassian, I’m terrified. What are we going to do?

Cassian snapped back. He smoothly withdrew his arm, his voice steady. Don’t worry. As long as I’m around, you will always have a place in LA.

He offered a few more words of reassurance, instructed the maid to continue care, and quickly left the apartment.

He wasn’t surprised Trista went after Samantha.

In his mind, Trista was fundamentally incapable of letting go of their mating bond-

Her recent shiftsthe aggression, the concessions, even planning to sell the obsidian staff- were, to him, all just testing his boundaries.

That evening, around eight o’clock, Trista sat alone in her room, spaced out.

Her silenced commstone still vibrated relentlessly.

She glanced at the nameCassian. Her finger instantly swiped reject.

A text popped up right away.

Five minutes. You don’t come down, I’m coming up..

In the living room, her parents watched TV, speaking in low voices, punctuated by the soft clink of dishes.

Trista stared at the text.

She hesitated, then stood up and changed her clothes.

Since she moved back, her parents had been meticulously kind, never complaining once.

But she knew they were hurting. They were walking on eggshells, pretending not to know, just to save her from shame.

She couldn’t let Cassian come upstairs, forcing an Ironthorn Alpha confrontation in their ordinary human apartment.

She made a quick excuse about needing to buy a drink, grabbed her bag, walked out, and crossed the street.

A familiar black sedan was waiting.

The window lowered slowly, revealing Cassian’s profile.

Get in.

He offered no wasted words, just looking up at her.

Trista hesitated, then walked around the hood, opened the passenger door, and climbed in. What do you want? Talk.

The silence in the car was suffocating.

Cassian’s gaze was fixed on her cold, detached face, as if trying to confirm or suppress something.

He started with an accusation. You want to terminate the mating? Then why are you after Samantha?

still going

Trista was done playing games. I guarantee I won’t go near her again if you just terminate the mating.”

What if I don’t?Cassian asked.

His tone wasn’t aggressive, but it held a cold, habitual dominance.

Then whatever I choose to do to them,Trista said, is my right.”

Cassian dropped the cautious probing he’d used recently. His tone hardened. Samantha and Algernon are vulnerable, and they’re definitely not your match, but they have me. I will take responsibility for them to the end.

He paused, his voice dropping a dangerous notch. But Trista, your parents are just regular ones. Who do they have? Just you?

The sentence was a cold blade, slipping between her ribs.

He was using her parents to threaten Trista, all for that shewolf.

The air in the car was impossibly heavy.

Cassian issued his final warning. I’m telling you one last time: stop harassing Samantha. Or face the consequences.

Trista lifted her chin slightly, stubbornly trapping her tears.

Cassian, she said. I swear I will never bother them again if you just agree to terminate the mating contract at the Stone Circle.

Cassian reached out and grabbed Trista’s wrist. The grip wasn’t brutal, but it carried an undeniable force.

Trista,he lowered his voice. Stop using termination to test my limits. I know you don’t really want to break this mating bond.
