Chapter 86
Third Person’s POV
Wynn gave Cassian no chance to speak. She spilled everything at once. “Cassian cheated and had a child with Samantha, and Luna Trista has been fighting him to terminate the mating bond!”
“Cassian demanded one million from her. Luna Trista sold Ulva’s heirloom obsidian staff and gave their Alpha villa to Samantha and Algernon.”
“She didn’t go abroad for a vacation. Cassian and Samantha forced her out of Los Angeles!”
Cassian stood
up, his gaze icy and clearly warning. “Wynn, shut your
mouth.”
Wynn flinched back from his Alpha aura, but stubbornly hid behind Alaina.
She whispered the final blow. “Last night, Cassian went to the apartment where Ulva and Randolph live, and her parents slammed the door in his face. I swear I’m not lying!”
The living room fell into a silence broken only by harsh breathing.
Cassian tilted his head back, taking a deep breath. The pain in his gland surged.
Wilmot’s face was chalky with rage. He slammed his cane on the floor. “Look at this mess! You jeopardize the pack for some outside she–wolf and hide it from us!”
Alaina looked completely drained. She collapsed onto the sofa.
She pressed her hand to her aching chest. “Cassian, listen to me: even if you terminate the mating bond with Trista, don’t you dare think about bringing Samantha and her son into this house!”
Howard, who had been silent, finally opened his eyes. The moment he, the former Alpha, looked up, the air pressure in the room dropped sharply.
His words were a naked threat. “Cassian, don’t forget your promise to me.”
“If Trista terminates the mating bond because of Samantha and Algernon, I will make them pay.”
The invisible pressure of the Ironthorn elders spread, a cold shadow clinging to everyone’s bones.
Cassian’s chest tightened. He struggled to keep his voice steady. “Grandfather, Mom, Dad, don’t worry. I will not terminate the mating bond with Trista.”

Wynn exploded. “So you’ve been dragging your feet just so you can keep Samantha and Algernon around?!”
“I’m going to tell Luna Trista to never forgive you!”
Her eyes red, she spun and rushed out of the living room, her retreating figure radiating fury.
Cassian watched Wynn disappear down the hall, his brow furrowed into a tight knot.
Wilmot rubbed his temples, pulling his attention back to Cassian. “Regardless, you must bring Trista back for the Shadowfang former Luna’s birthday celebration in three days.”
“They specifically asked to see the Luna of the Ironthorn pack, not just anyone.”
Alaina’s gaze
darted between Howard, her husband, and her son. Her mind was racing.
She couldn’t hold back. “Cassian, Trista ran off to a place that far, and you, her mate, didn’t immediately go after her to bring her home.”
“If something happens to her out there, how will you face her parents?”
Cassian’s fingers clenched, his gland line aching. “I already booked a flight to France tonight. I’ll bring her back tomorrow.”
He realized he had become too used to her obedience.

He was used to her never leaving his side, even through the worst storms, and even if she sobbed uncontrollably, she always stayed within his territory.
This time, she left without a word, flying out of Los Angeles, cutting off her scent completely.
After leaving the manor, Cassian drove straight to the airport.
The international departure gate was quiet. The lights were cold white, and announcements cycled overhead.
He sat in the corner of the waiting area, feeling completely drained of all fighting spirit, rigid from extreme suppression.
Before, he’d fill every minute before takeoff with reading files or taking calls.
This time, he just stared at the flight information display, not even bothering to answer the faint flickers of his comm–stone.
Ten hours later, the plane touched down. The tires scraped the runway, and the seatbelt sign chimed. It was 9:30 p.m. local time in France.
